The Womens Reservation Bill was presented in the Rajya Sabha on International Women’s Day on Monday and amended the constitution to reserve 33 per cent of seats in parliament and the state legislatures for women.

Atlast the bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday with 186 yes & 1 noes after two days of high drama that saw suspension of seven members who violently disrupted proceedings.

Besides if reservation is up on cards for the historically suppressed class of society, then women are the most deserving group for such an initiative.
