Roja lost her mental balance?

The PrajaRajyam women wing president, Ms Shobha Rani, said her Telugu Desam counterpart, Ms Roja, has “lost her mental balance” and “has no right to criticise Chiranjeevi”.
While addressing a media conference at the Praja Rajyam central office on Saturday, Ms Shobha Rani took pot-shots at Roja.
“I am not passing this remark in a casual manner.
Roja told the court during a cheque bounce case earlier that her mental condition was not stable,” Ms Shobha said. She further asked Roja to learn from actor-turnedpolitician, Ms Vijaya Shanti. “She may be in the Grand Alliance, but has maintained her dignity and decorum in her speeches”
Relatives ‘mar’ Chiru’s show

VIJAYAWADA: The Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) in the city appears to be enacting the role of a hare in the familiar tale of “The Hare and the Tortoise”. Three months ago, hectic activity was witnessed in PRP circles, but it is visibly missing at a crucial time when the elections are just about a month away.
While the initial enthusiasm is slowly waning in the PRP, activity is steadily picking up in the ruling Congress, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and other parties. Active leaders in the PRP are panicky over this turn of events.
Some promising leaders in the PRP are attributing this sudden downslide to the “constant interference” of relatives of Allu Aravind and others in the party affairs here. One such leader says nobody is being allowed to take the initiative to take the party programmes to people, with city convener Boppana Bhava Kumar just watching the situation helplessly.
Another opinion is that Mr. Aravind and other top rung leaders are depending solely on their relatives here for any feedback and this has come as a discouragement for many enthusiastic leaders.
As the fear of relatives has gripped everybody, no leader is venturing to take the state of affairs to the notice of party president Chiranjeevi.
A strong feeling among the cadre is that the situation in the party has slipped from bad to worse since the exit of Kesineni Srinivas (Nani).
Sources in the party say that the relatives of Mr. Aravind are directly or indirectly involved in “browbeating and snubbing” other leaders, whenever they try to take up any activity on behalf of the party. Nobody in the top leadership is listening to the voices of all leaders to set right the situation. If this continues for a few more days, it is like losing the battle before it has even begun in this politically active district, the sources say.
The second-rung leaders are unhappy to a large extent over the manner in which the party affairs are being run in the city. At the same time, they are keeping silent so as not to incur the wrath of relatives.
Assembly Poll Survey-Chiru gets only 30-35 seats

The ruling Congress will return to power with 155-169 Assembly seats, according to a survey released on Sunday. This places the party comfortably above the half-way mark of 148 seats in the Assembly. The Telugu Desam-led Mahakutami will get between 92-110 seats.
The Praja Rajyam of Chiranjeevi would get 30-35 seats and others would mop up 7-9 seats, according to the survey conducted by the news channel NTV in association with Nielsen ORC Marg Ltd.
The survey, conducted in February, covered 88,146 respondents at about 300 voters from each constituency. In the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress will get 23-27 seats out of 42 in the state, according to the survey. The Mahakutami will 14-16 seats and the Praja Rajyam, 1-2 seats.
Regionwise, according to the survey, the Congress will win between 37 and 45 seats out of the total 119 in Telangana and 77-88 seats in coastal Andhra which has 124 seats. Out of the 51 seats in Rayalaseema, the Congress will get 35-41, the survey predicted.
The Mahakutami will bag 52-70 seats in Telangana because of its pro-statehood stance, 20-24 seats in Andhra and 13-15 seats in Rayalaseema, the survey reported.
The Praja Rajyam suffered a vote erosion from the earlier poll by the same agencies. It will get 4-6 seats in Telangana and 2-3 seats in Rayalaseema. Its best showing will be in coastal Andhra at 21-28 seats, the survey said.
Jayasudha not averse to contesting elections

HYDERABAD: Tinsel diva of yesteryears Jayasudha, who recently made her political debut through Congress party, did not rule out the possibility of her contesting the elections if any such offer is made by the party high command.
Though she largely avoided political queries at a party she hosted for media on Saturday, she did not deny the possibility of her entry into serious politics by contesting for Parliamentary polls. “I can not say anything now. I surely will not go around asking for a ticket. But if offered, I will weigh my options carefully before accepting it. After all, I have people pinning their hopes on me,” she said on the sidelines of the programme.
Women’s welfare
If elected, Ms. Jayasudha said, she will devote her time for women’s welfare. Fighting for 33 per cent reservations for women in the legislature and working for an exclusive women’s helpline will top her list of priorities.
“Women being subjected to domestic violence do not have anywhere to go. They are scared of approaching the police and silently put up with violence. A helpline in the lines of 108 and 100 can offer them the much needed community support,” she said.
Though she explicitly refused to comment on her political aspirations, the party she hosted was widely interspersed with hints. A website titled ‘Mee Jayasudha’ ( www.meejayasudhacongress.com) launched on the occasion amply reflected her loyalty to the party. A documentary released on the occasion too left many indications.
Citing the honorary doctorate she recently received from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University, Ms. Jayasudha felicitated journalists who aided her growth so far.
Chiranjeevi And Bala Krishna ask for Gun Cover

Top action heroes Balakrishna and Pavan Kalyan have sought gunmen to protect them from their own fans. Both the actorsturned-politicians have mentioned “threat perception” from fans. Balakrishna, who is preparing for the second leg of campaign for the Telugu Desam, has written to the home minister, Mr K. Jana Reddy, seeking security. “I am a cine star and have tremendous fan following,” he wrote. “I am the son of NTR and am going for campaign in several parts of the state. I need personal security officers to guard me.” The minister forwarded the request to the police top brass, who in turn ordered an enquiry by the special branch on the threat perception of the actor. “They are seeking security from their own fans,” said a senior police officer. “If the special branch and intelligence recommend their case, they may be given protection by the City Security Wing.”Police was rathercautious about the request for security filed by the actor-turned-politician Balakrishna in view of the shooting incidents that took place in his house. The gun licences of Balakrishna and his wife Vasundhara were cancelled by the police after the incidents. The Praja Rajyam has written to the Intelligence wing chief, Mr K. Aravinda Rao, seeking security for Pavan Kalyan. “Chiranjeevi and Pavan have no security threat from any quarter at present,” said a source in the party. “For Pavan we have sought security as his fans may push him. We haven’t mentioned any threat perception in the request. We were told police is checking on it.” Private security guards of Chiranjeevi and Pavan Kalyan had embarrassed the party by beating up fans before the media. Hence the decision to seek police security.
Yuva Rajyam Chief Pavankalyan calls halt to political ragging

Irked by ‘unbridled’ criticism from political parties, Yuva Rajyam president Pawan Kalyan called a halt to what he termed ‘political ragging’ of Praja Rajyam by opponents. Interacting with the media after officially welcoming stock-broker and BJP leader Govind Rathi and his father B .N. Rathi and their supporters finto the PR on Saturday, he said,“judging from the way we are being criticised, one would think there was no space for new political parties. Anyway, the elections are just round the corner and time will testify people’s trust us”. Facing a barrage of questions on the party’s stand on Telangana, Mr. Kalyan reiterated, “Praja Rajyam president has clearly stated that he was for a separate State. It is a commitment from his heart. What else do you people want?”. To a question as to the definition of ‘Social Telangana’ (a term coined by the PR), he quipped, “It means a Telangana for the Backward Classes”, before hastening to add that it stood for BC leadership in a separate State. At a separate press conference later, T. Devender Goud when asked the same question said it referred to a separate new State where social justice would be implemented in letter and spirit.
