Dasari’s ‘Dialogue-Astras’ On Chiranjeevi

mestri_rev21236860758

Though it was categorically denied that the noted personality Dasari Narayana Rao was not hinting at anyone in his film ‘Mestri’ it looked a bit obvious that few words were catered to megastar Chiranjeevi exclusively and directly. Here are a few excerpts from the film that might convince you too.

The song ‘Naagamalli Daarilo…’ refers to incidents such as mishaps during road shows like current shock, accidents leading to human casualties. And there is a reference that goes heroes don’t become leaders once they come out of the screen and voters must not get carried away out of ‘Abhimaanam’ as they will end up becoming ‘Abhimanyu’.

Here is an interesting bit. One of the characters addresses the villain aspiring for CM and says you have been ‘Andarivaadu’ but if you get into politics you will become ‘Kondarivaadu’. Dasari himself joins the bandwagon when he says that just by sticking and attaching photo frames of big people on the stage and saying their words during meetings, one does not become a big person. Perhaps this should be enough for you to take a call on this folks. Yes, as Dasari might be referring to Mother Teresa, Phoole, Ambedkar and Abdul Kalam posters of PRP.

It was with a great anticipation that ‘Mesthri’ was awaited since the buzz was it had a lot of dig on Chiranjeevi and his political debut. Also, the combination of the Congress sympathizers Dasari, Mohan Babu, Srihari generated enough excitement for political undertones. How much of it is actually true, let us see.

Story:

Palakollu (Dasari Narayan Rao) joins as worker at Vizag shipping company. Palakollu wins the confidence of co-workers by distributing some land to those workers for housing purpose. He becomes the leader and co-workers start calling Palakollu as Mestri.

But Subba Raju (Pradeep rawat) doesn’t like this Pallakollu becoming Mestri to workers. As the story runs, Subba Raju dies in the hands of Mestri.

The Flash back reveals that Mestri is actually Major Narasihmam, He comes to Vizzag with the name Palakollu. His mission is to take the revenge on the killers of Major Devaraj, a Dlit army officer who has been awarded with Shourya Chakra (Mohanababu). Bhupathi (Rahul Dev) and his family kills Major Devaraj.

Freedom fighter Gopal krishna (Vijay Kumar) helps Mestri in several occasions. Who is this Gopal Krishna and how is he related to Bhpathi. How Mestri takes the revenge on the killers of Devaraj? watch on big screen.

Palakollu (Dasari) joins the shipyard as an ordinary loader and in no time, he uses his wit and intellect to arrange for a land to the workers so that they can build their homes. As expected, he becomes the ‘Mesthri’ for them. However, he has obstacles in the form of their boss Subbaraju (Pradeep Rawath) and his brother Adiraju (Sayaji). After the death of Subbaraju, in the hands of Mestri, the flashback is revealed that Mesthri is actually Major Narasimham and he is there to take revenge on the murderers of his disciple Major Devaraj (Mohanbabu). Srihari played the role of a suspended cop. In between all this, there is a Gandhian Gopalakrishnaiah (Vijay Kumar) who helps Mesthri in one of his court cases. But who is Gopalakrishnaiah? That’s suspense. Does he get successful in his revenge seeking mission? All this forms the rest of the story.

Performance:
It was a Dasari show as is the case with most of his movies and he carries out his role with fair standards. His dialogue delivery in some scenes were impressive, Mohanbabu has a whirlwind appearance and he has his share of strong dialogues, Srihari looked handsome and though his performance was subdued, his action sequences were alright, Sayaji was regular, Vijay Kumar was average, Pradeep Rawat was mediocre, Sujitha looked sweet, Rahul Dev came and went, MS was usual, Giri Babu and Chandramohan did their bit as required.

The others were filling the screen with their presence. The director has come up with a routine storyline but he managed to keep things going during the first half with a decent screenplay and good pace. However, the narration went really messy during the second half with a lot of drag and some illogical climax situations.

The presentation was good as the music and the background score was impressive and the cinematography has captured the angles and the emotions correctly, even the lighting effects have been neat.

Editing could have been a lot better during the second half, costumes for Mohan Babu should have been more disciplined in his army uniform, and the art department has done an okay job. The dialogues were filled with enough punch and ammunition and it got few whistles and claps from the front benchers. The script had flaws and the screenplay could have been much better.

Analysis:

The first half of the film was able to keep the curiosity factor high and it looked like the second half will have some good momentum to culminate a good climax and give a thoughtful message to the audience but then the last 30 minutes of the film was a major drag and as it is the content part was not much so the film depended a lot on a tight screenplay which went haywire during the thirty minutes.

Though many from the camp were denying that the film did not take a dig at anyone, a fair share of dialogues was spoken that gave a stick to Chiranjeevi and his political role. Literally, the song ‘Nagamalli daarilo…’ looked like a tribute to Chiru, not stopping at that, few scenes with Vijay Kumar and the repeatedly spoken words such as ‘Master’ ‘Andarivaadu’ pointed fingers only in one direction. Even the TDP folks were not left out in this party as references have been made using terms like ‘Tiger’ ‘Garjana’ , Telangana issue and few other aspects.

It is also amusing to hear Dasari say that the character played by Mohan Babu gets killed because he is a Dalit and that too by the upper caste. Well, the issue was about the land and caste and creed has nothing to do with the killing. Just when audience was hoping that Dasari will not show his eccentricity, he came up to his original antics in the second half and that too in the climax. How ridiculous can things get when a song sung by Dasari is played on the screen in a public meeting when the time comes to expose the villain instead of showing the evil acts of the bad man. A good thing was the song on the essence of Telugu which was quite patriotic and commendable, written by C Na Re. The film is an outright mass treat and it could have been better had the second half been handled well. Though the content part is meek, it is the presence of the stars and the dialogues that provide some solace. The criticism on Chiru and other parties looked quite evident enough.

Chiranjeevi says People will not be carried away by film glamour

2chiru
Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi sought to be dismissive of the Telugu Desam’s bid to counter him through Balakrishna and Junior NTR, saying people would not get carried away by cine glamour but wanted a good future.

In a brief chat with reporters at Begumpet airport soon after his arrival from Rajahmundry, he said that people might come and listen to film stars due to cine glamour, but ultimately they want their future to be glamorous. “Their future is important,” he remarked. He said that the huge turnout at Rajahmundry had proved the Praja Rajyam’s doomsayers, who were trying to mislead people through jugglery of figures, wrong.

Colourful welcome

The megastar who was greeted by PR supporters with sprinkling of colours on his arrival at the airport, extended his greetings to the people on the occasion of Holi and hoped that their lives would be equally colourful.

Rajahmundry Staff Reporter adds:

Addressing a press conference here, Mr.Chiranjeevi alleged that a few coverts who joined and left the party had made baseless allegations that the party was minting money through the sale of tickets. Winding up his tour of East Godavari, Mr Chiranjeevi said that one leader who left the PR and joined an opposition party two days ago had made allegations of sale of tickets, while another spoke of lack of social justice in the party.

Alleges mischief

“They are all coverts sent by ruling and opposition parties to weaken the PR. But the PR will not succumb to their tactics,” he asserted.

The PR workers will not get demoralised by surveys of other parties which forecast that the party would not get more than a couple of Lok Sabha seats, he said.

Referring to the huge gathering at Tuesday’s ‘Sankharavam,’ he said the party would not bag less than three Lok Sabha seats in East Godavari alone.

He maintained that the PR would win a sizeable number of Assembly seats, adding that the party would not align with any party in the State or at the national level.

Has Chiru’s camp been infiltrated?

chiru1812312452251
RAJAHMUNDRY/ HYDERABAD: Flush with the unprecedented success of his public meeting in Rajahmundry, Prajarajyam Party (PRP) chief Chiranjeevi was

spitting fire on Wednesday. He levelled serious charges against the TDP, saying that the party has “planted” some persons as coverts to destroy him and damage his party’s reputation.

Chiranjeevi told newspersons that some Telugu Desam Party (TDP) men joined PRP and were trying to damage him by making unnecessary charges. Countering the charge that PRP charges Rs 2 crore from each aspirant to contest the elections, he said: “It’s rubbish. Some coverts planted by the TDP in PRP are making such allegations. Now, such elements are out of the PRP.”

This is the first time that Chiranjeevi was mentioning publicly about his party being infiltrated, but sources say that he has been discussing these matters with close aides. “Soon after Chiranjeevi launched his party, he realised that his office was being bugged, his phones tapped and movements of his aides being monitored,” highly placed sources told TOI. Sources also said that he made a close circle of his family members when he realised that important political decisions were getting leaked out within minutes of it being made. “He did not know what to do and for starters went into a cocoon,” a source said. It is understood that other than officials of the state intelligence bureau, Chiranjeevi was also looking at the Congress with suspicion in this matter.

Political analysts tended to agree with the gist of Chiranjeevi’s belief. “I would reckon that his suspicions are not out of place. It does seem that there is infiltration into his party,” said a senior leader from another political party.

On Wednesday, without mentioning the names of Kesineni Nani of Vijayawada and Vasamsetti Satya of East Godavari who joined the TDP, Chiranjeevi said some leaders were TDP “stooges” who tried to vitiate the atmosphere in PRP.

Chiranjeevi denied that tickets are being allotted only to affluent persons and termed it as bad propaganda against him and his party. “Our list will have a fresh look with lots of new faces. We will field maximum number of backward caste candidates,” Chiranjeevi said. He said the PRP would release the first list in four to five days.

But Chiranjeevi was evasive about his stand on allocation of more seats for women, reducing or increasing the seats to Kapu leaders and controlling his fans at public meetings. Chiranjeevi asserted he would contest the April 23 election from Tirupati. “Tirupati is fixed. But I have not decided on contesting from Narsapuram in West Godavari,” he said. He said he would certainly enter the fray from another constituency.

In the event of PRP coming to power, Chiranjeevi assured that liquor prohibition would be introduced in a phased manner and belt shops would be closed immediately. On Congress government’s Jalayagnam, he said PRP would not take up all the projects at one time.

Chiranjeevi reiterated that there is no question of his party supporting the BJP at the national level. The PRP chief expressed the hope that his party would get a common symbol.

After having created enough hype and more of a curiosity, the film ‘Mestri’ is all set to hit the screens today. This has the famous Darsakaratna Dasari Narayana Rao in the title role and he will be seen donning the role of a Mestri.

The film is being directed by his protégé Suresh Krissna who gave huge hits like Indudu Chandrudu and Basha earlier. But in recent time he proved to be a failure with Astram. Again he is back with Mestri. The film also has collection king Mohan Babu who is seen as an army Major and then there is real star Srihari who is also part of the lead cast. There is no leading lady in the film as such but then the noted TV actress Sujitha is said to be present doing a role that might prove her presence.

It has been quite a while since Dasari has been seen on screen so many of them are looking forward to see him on screen. Also, the buzz that this happens to be a political satire on Chiranjeevi is drawing more attention given the current election fever that has been soaring with each passing day.

“Our list will have a fresh look with many new faces to the extent possible. We will field maximum number of women while at least 100 candidates belonging to Backward Classes will also be given a chance,” Chiranjeevi said.

Reacting angrily to the allegations that his party was collecting Rs 2 crore from each aspirant to contest the elections, he said: “Its rubbish. Some coverts planted by the Telugu Desam Party in the PRP are making such allegations. Now, such elements are out of PRP”.
