chiru enter into Actress to political star

Posted by chiru On November - 28 - 2008

The Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi took an U-turn on the issue of poll alliances on Thursday. He expressed his willingness to align with the Telangana Rashtra Samiti if the latter is ready for a pre-poll alliance with the PR. The actor-turned- politician appeared unfazed even after the Left parties’ decided to join hands the Telugu Desam two days ago and said: “We will go all alone in the general elections. It makes no difference whether anybody comes with us or not. We are sure we will repeat history like NTR.”

While replying to a question on whether the PR was ready to join hands with the TRS for a pre-poll alliance in the coming elections, Chiranjeevi said: “We are ready to work with anybody. But, some parties are keeping us aside by thinking that we are small…” He declined to elaborate on his reply. The PR chief also said that the PR did not see any conspiracy behind a TRS worker throwing an egg at him during a road show in Warangal district. Meanwhile, alleging that the PR was not sticking to social justice while appointing committees in the party, MLC Mr G. Haribabu Naidu, resigned from the primary membership of the party on Thursday evening. Mr Haribabu an independent MLC from Srikakulam district.

Chiranjeevi Bhajana batch still running

Posted by chiru On November - 28 - 2008

It is a known fact that megastar Chiranjeevi was the reigning emperor of the Tollywood till the time he took to politics and left the filmdom. But then it appears that Chiru seems to have taken this label far too seriously if reliable sources are to be believed.

Apparently, those who have known Chiru closely say that he was one man who used to enjoy praises and accolades at the end of every evening of his shoot. Colloquially, they are known as the ‘Bhajana batch’ whose job is to heap praises about his mannerisms and actions during his cine career.

Now, there is news that he has been continuing the same tradition even to this day. Some say that since he is a strict follower of Hanuman, even he likes to be motivated from time to time and he has been accompanied by a bunch of those regular followers who are continuing their ‘Bhajan’ with him.

Vangaveeti Santhan Kumar is wait for chiranjeevi

Posted by chiru On November - 28 - 2008

The much-talked about entry of Vangaveeti Santhan Kumar, nephew of late Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga, into Praja Rajyam Party remains a big question on the faces of his followers.

Santhan had put up massive banners in Vijayawada announcing his entry into the PRP and had even set November 23. Having set his eyes on Vijayawada Central Assembly seat, Santhan prepared the ground to cross the fence.

Unfortunately, he is still waiting at the gate of the Praja Rajyam Party in Hyderabad for invitation. He had reportedly sent a word to PRP chief Chiranjeevi and senior leader, Allu Aravind. He also gained some access to the power star and sent a word seeking Chiru’s interview.

However, till date, there is no word from the PRP, making him wait outside. How long he would have to wait at the gate is a big question. The other aspect is that his brother and Congress MLA, Vangaveeti Radha Krishna, who is already sitting on the fence is likely to jump even as Santhan waits outside.

chiru nellore and prakasam road show

While all political parties feel let down by the High Court interim order banning all road shows, the police heaved a sigh of relief as they need not face traffic jams. The political parties estimate their strength basing on the turnout to their road shows. When the Telugu Desam and the Praja Raj-yam introduced film stars in the road shows, the Congress mainly depends on the only the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy. The court order mainly affects the PR party as its founder president Chiranjeevi conducted road shows in almost all districts except the coastal area.

His road show is due this month and next month. He is to embark on a tour to Prakasam and Nellore districts in the last week of this month and Krishna and Guntur districts in either the first week or second week of next month. Chiru’s fans and party activists were heavily banking on the tour. Now the court order has thrown cold water on their dreams. They feel that if the actor-turned politician’s visit is confined to one or two public meetings, people’s response can not be guaged.

The court orders also throw a spanner into the plans of the Telugu Desam at a time when the party leaders were busy in making arrangements for the next month Maha Dharna under the aegis of party president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu. The order has come as a rude shock to the district cadre. Doubts were expressed over film actor Balakrishna’s road shows which are scheduled next month.

Meanwhile, the decision of the High Court has come as bolt from the blue for the police department. The recent road shows by the union minister of state for human resources, Ms D. Purandhareswari and Kal-yan Ram of the Nandamuri clan created traffic jams. The citizens of Vijayawada faced untold inconvenience as thousands of vehicles de-scended on the city for Yuva Garjana of the Telugu De-sam. A boy from Machilipatnam died while being shifted to the hospital at Patamata as the police restricted the traffic due to Chief Minister’s visit. Now police feel that such kind of incidents will not recur due to the ban.

chiru ask in congress with terrorist blasts

Posted by chiru On November - 28 - 2008

The ruling party, which faces the Delhi electorate on Saturday to retain its government, is sulking that Mumbai mayhem has sent a negative signal in the capital about the Congress-led UPA government, already under severe criticism for its inability to control terrorism.

Advani, who reached Mumbai on Thursday evening along with senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh, said, “In this time of crisis, the government and the people must join hands together to defeat this evil force of terrorism.” Although he refrained from a political match with the UPA, Advani didn’t forget to mention that “the government itself has admitted that there were intelligence lapses”.

Meanwhile, a worried Congress hoped that “all political parties will sink their differences and rise above petty politics”. At the same time, the Congress has ruled out the removal of Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil or National Security Advisor M K Narayanan. “We have to solve the problem and not indulge in theatrics,” said party spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi.

The Congress is worried that one after another severe terror attacks would affect mainly its urban votes. “It may affect our prospects in Delhi and later in the Lok Sabha polls. The BJP has already made it their main issue,” said a senior minister.

Ministers and leaders, who are otherwise ever ready to speak on the television, avoided the media today. After the routine meeting of the Union Cabinet, no minister came to brief the media. In the Cabinet meeting, no one asked any question to Patil, who recently faced criticism from some Cabinet ministers after the Delhi blasts.

Political parties canceled all their planned rallies in the capital even though it was the last day of the campaigning today. The PM’s proposed rally in Delhi was also canceled and so has been his proposed plan to inaugurate a monorail project in Mumbai on November 29.

Meanwhile, US President George Bush called Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today and offered all help. Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari too called UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and emphasised on joint mechanism to tackle terror. Later, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said, “We expect our neighbour will keep its commitment on not allowing its ground for terrorist activities.”

chiru comments in mumbai blasts

Posted by chiru On November - 28 - 2008

Condemning the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, all the Opposition parties on Thursday held the Union Government responsible for failing to prevent the outrage.

Speaking to reporters here, Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) founder Chiranjeevi even went so far as to say that the Navy had failed to keep a vigil on terrorist movements.

Sounded on the reintroduction of POTA, Chiranjeevi said the Government should strictly implement the existing anti-terror laws. The PRP founder said his blood bank would donate to victims of the attacks.

“We had conducted a camp in Mumbai some time back, and the PRP will ask the donors there to do the needful.’’ Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu alleged that terrorist activities had increased after the induction of the UPA Government at the Centre.

This was the 18th terrorist act since it came to power, he noted. He also charged the Centre with failing to alert the States on the movements of terrorists, leading to loss of innocent lives.

Condemning the attacks, the city unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took out a procession from Basheerbagh to Tank Bund. BJP State president B Dattatreya took part in the rally in which Ch Vidyasagara Rao demanded that Pakistan be declared a ‘terrorist country’.

Nava Telangana Party (NTP) founder T Devender Goud demanded that the intelligence wing be strengthened in the country.

chiru ‘Hc’ stay prajaankita yatra

The Andhra Pradesh High Court’s decision to ban road shows in the poll season will affect all major political parties as such rallies are a big way to attract crowds and put forth issues before the public.

In fact, the stay hits all the big leaders including the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, Praja Rajyam chief Chiranjeevi, the TRS chief, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, and the Telugu Desam president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, all of who undertake road shows.

In fact, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao is on the move in Adilabad district and he would have to wind up his road show immediately.

“We agree that it causes some inconvenience to people, but in a democracy and during elections, road shows help political parties to reach out to voters,” said Mr K. Vidyadhar Rao, spokesperson of the Praja Rajyam.

The petition in the High Court was filed in the wake of the deaths of several people during Chiranjeevi’s road shows.

Mr Vidyadhar Rao termed the deaths unfortunate but pointed out that they also occurred during road shows and public meetings organised by the Congress.

The TD spokesman, Dr M.V. Mysoora Reddy said the party would react after going through the High Court order.

The order could be a blessing in disguise for the Telugu Desam since its star campaigners, Balakrishna and Junior NTR, are not keen on road shows.

“It’s an unfortunate order,” said the Telangana Rashtra Samiti spokesperson, Mr G. Jagdish Reddy: “Road shows should be regulated and not totally banned.”

Road shows have been part of Indian politics for long.

Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Mrs Indira Gandhi and Telugu Desam founder N.T. Rama Rao had all taken out road shows.

However, there is also the fact that the modern road shows have been creating traffic jams and mishaps.
