Sonia Gandhi Sings Old Theme on Telangana Issue

sonia-gandhi-1
“Telangana is part our agenda and we will continue to check all efforts turn fruitful to get the separate state for the region” says AICC president Sonia Gandhi in her Karimnagar campaign meeting on Tuesday. The much debated T-issue which didn’t even find place in the State Congress Manifesto, was again seen in the speech of her mentioning that the party fully supports the cause and neither its party nor its leaders are against it. She visiting the region to woo voters in the coming elections is certainly a strategic statement of Congress kind.

The tear jerk show statement made yesterday has picked more criticism than applause as none of the leaders and leaders of the region including her own party weren’t happy with just the statement. Many say that it was so untimely statement made and this clearly presents the nakedness of the party in front of all and her appeal this time definitely go down without any response from the public or will not create any favours towards the chances of the party.

She came down severely on BJP and TDP in her speeches at Bhuavngiri and Vijayanagaram, saying that the alliances formed regionally have no objective of public service but only holds interest in power and appealed to people not to vote for such groups which can’t make bring development to people. She requested people to be determined to vote for Congress for the developmental programs made by the ruling Congress government and they need to vote for Congress so as to finish the other developmental programs which they planned for the future of the people of the State.

Her statements seem to have not picked any credibility in the state, as most of the public believed that it was the same statement made in her earlier meetings too. The campaign seems to have done nothing much better in the fortunes of the Congress; it was all the way Madame Show and offered nothing new. CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy and State PCC President D Srinivas were present in her meetings along with the regional leaders.

Fourth front will be formed at Centre: Chiranjeevi

chiru_fans1

Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) chief Chiranjeevi on Sunday said there was a likelihood of a fourth front emerging at the Centre after the general election.

“My feeling is that why should a fourth front not be formed at the Centre. Those parties which are opposed to the current formations can join hands with us to from the fourth front,” Chiranjeevi told reporters here.

He said the PRP would not support the BJP-led NDA, it would also not support the UPA as the Congress is their main rival in Andhra Pradesh. “Since we are also opposed to the TDP there is no question of supporting the Third Front either, ” Chiranjeevi added.

The PRP Chief asserted that voters of the state would give a clear verdict in this month’s election and ruled out a split verdict. Asked which party would the PRP support or which party support it would take in case of a hung assembly Chiranjeevi said such scenario could be ruled out completely.

“The people are very clear and there is no confusion in their minds,” he observed.

Asked if he would make a dalit the chief minister if PRP was voted to power, Chiranjeevi replied it all depended on the peoples wish. If the people wanted Chiranjeevi would become the chief minister or a dalit could occupied that post, he added.

Jayasudha vs Jr NTR Comments

jayasudha1237835312

Actor and Congress nominee from Secunderabad Assembly constituency, Jayasudha, took on actor Junior NTR in her blog Jayam Manade (victory is ours).

She belittled Junior NTR and wrote:
“It is funny how legacies are carried on in our state. Many people talk about how NTR (Jr.) inherited the charisma of his illustrious grandfather. I do not know what to say about such comparisons. No doubt NTR (Jr.) is a very good actor. He also seems to have all the famous dialogues of his grandfather on his finger tips but when NTR (Sr.) spoke there was a soul to his words.

I think people get so carried away with the memory of a great name that they seem to forget everything else. It does not seem to matter if the man in question is a womaniser or a drunk, all that matters is the last name. It is so nauseating to see all that is being played out in the name of NTR that I just avoid it. The real NTR fan will know that there can only be one NTR. ”

A K Mohanty is AP’s new DGP

moha_254466436

The Election Commission on Sunday decided to appoint Ajit Kumar Mohanty as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh.

It may be recalled the EC had removed the previous DGP SSP Yadav for violating the model code of conduct by praising the state government. Also, Yadav left the headquarters to visit Singapore without informing the EC.

Known for his honesty and steadfastness, Mohanty was sidelined by the Congress government following the pressure from a lobby within the IPS officers, headed by Yadav and intelligence Additional DGP, intelligence Aravinda Rao.

Mohanty, while working as the Director General of Anti-Corruption Bureau, had sent shivers through the spines of corrupt government officials. Then he was appointed as the Hyderabad City Police Commissioner. However, the Congress government shifted him following the pressure from MIM, as Mohanty was acting according to the law without heeding to the blackmail of the MIM leaders.

He was then posted as the Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, but many IPS officers pressurized the government to transfer Mohanty following which he was posted as the chief of Octopus, the newly created anti-terror wing.

Unfortunately, intelligence chief Aravinda Rao and DGP Yadav lobbied against him and sidelined him by getting him posted to the Road Safety Authority, which has no set up to do anything.

But, efficiency and honesty finally won with the EC appointing him as the new DGP despite opposition from the MIM.

KCR tries to mollify Vijayashanti

vijahanti1
HYDERABAD: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao met film actor Vijayashanti at her residence here on Saturday evening in an apparent bid to mollify her as she was reportedly unhappy with the constituency offered to her by the party for contesting in the elections.

He drove to Ms. Vijayashanti’s house in Jubilee Hills minutes after she told a large delegation of the party that she was unsure whether she would contest the polls at all. She wished the party well and said that all those who approached her should win the election.

The delegation tried to persuade her to contest for Malkajgiri parliamentary seat, but she gave no commitment. Mr. Rao had, a few days ago, announced at a party meeting that either Ms. Vijayashanti or he would enter the fray from Medak parliamentary constituency, considered safer than Malkajgiri.

Asked for his response after the two-hour meeting, Mr. Rao counselled reporters not to put out stories that were damaging.

He said the list of TRS candidates would be announced on Sunday or Monday morning. The delegation that went to Ms. Vijayashanti was led by senior party leader T. Sudarshan Rao. He urged her to take the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat as her glamour would not only ensure her own victory, but also that of the party candidates from the Assembly segments in that constituency.

The candidates aspiring for tickets in these segments had a selfish interest in requesting her to contest from Malkajgiri.

The leaders said she need not sweat it out to win. They would toil hard to ensure her victory.
