ntr_chandra11236735110

Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday gave a thorough briefing to his nephew Junior NTR, who will be going on a 40-day hectic election campaign from Wednesday.

Naidu, who inspected the “ratham” of NTR, told him several dos’ and don’ts during the election campaign. He asked him to focus on attacking the Congress and highlight TDP’s policies and programmes and, instead of resorting to personal attacks. At every stage, he wanted Jr NTR to ensure that people would recall senior NTR’s days.

Especially with regard to facing questions from the media, Naidu gave him a lot of tips and advised him to refrain from making sensational statements and giving controversial replies to media queries on family matters and other related issues.

Chiru for solo show, bros for multi-starrer

HYDERABAD: How many members from Chiranjeevi’s family will contest the upcoming elections to the Lok Sabha and the Assembly on behalf of Praja Rajyam? If Chiranjeevi has his way, he alone would be in the fray but pressure seems to be mounting on him from his two brothers who are keen to enter the fray. While Nagendra Babu intends to contest the Lok Sabha Rajahmundry constituency, the younger sibling, Pawan Kalyan, wants to try his luck in one of the Assembly constituencies in the State capital.
Chiranjeevi’s brother-in-law, Allu Aravind, the brain behind Praja Rajyam and the man who holds the key to almost everything that happens in the party, is, however, said to be averse to contesting. Informed sources told Express that Chiranjeevi’s personal view was that he alone should fight the polls while other key functionaries, including the brothers, should focus on the overall campaign. But both Nagendra Babu and Pawan have different ideas, and a final call is to be taken soon.
Chiranjeevi himself seems to be unclear as to the constituencies from where to contest.
While he had indicated the desire to fight from Tirupati, besides another constituency in Telangana, there now appears to be a rethink.
This follows a view within the party that he should contest a seat in the coastal region, considered the PRP’s best bet. If he were to finally decide to contest from the coastal region, he might opt out of Tirupati. Peddapally in Adilabad district in Telangana is the other seat he could prefer.
Former minister T Devender Goud, who has merged his Nava Telangana Praja Party (NTPP) with Praja Rajyam, is also said to be eyeing Lok Sabha via the the newly-created Malkajgiri constituency in the capital.
Apart from himself, he is said to have proposed only five or six nominees from his side and has, in fact, not been able to suggest strong candidates for some constituencies in Telangana where the PRP is left with little choice.
Interestingly, aspirants for PRP tickets seem to be overwhelmingly preferring Assembly seats to Lok Sabha. The reason is that in the event of a hung Assembly, the PRP might emerge as a player to reckon with and the party MLAs would stand to gain in such a scenario.

PRP committed to welfare of poor: Chiranjeevi

Rajahmundry: Founder President of the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) Chiranjeevi on Tuesday said his party was committed to the welfare of the poor, backwdard classes and downtrodden in Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing a largely attended ‘Social Justice Sankharavam’ meeting, he said his party would launch schemes for the welfare of backward classes and downtrodden, who were ”neglected” by the successive governments, if his party was voted to power in the next elections.

Stating the PRP belonged to the people as he launched the party on the advice of the people to work for the social justice, he expressed hope the people who accepted the PRP slogan of social justice would vote for the party in the coming elections to serve the people.

He said the successive governments had utilised the services of the backward classes and downtrodden during the elections and failed to provide proper representation to them in Parliament and State Legislature.

He said the PRP would give proper representation to the backward classes and would allocate enough seats for them in the elections.

He alleged the Congress and the TDP had deceived the poor and backward classes for the last several years by neglecting their welfare and used them for their vote banks.

He alleged the Congress and the TDP were trying to come to power in the State and misleading the public by making baseless allegations against his party.

PRP office wears a deserted look

The Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) office here wore a deserted look on Tuesday with party leaders and cadres leaving for Rajahmundry to make “Saamajika Nyaya Sankharavam”, a public meeting organised on the plank of social justice, a success.

The PRP leadership gave a call to the party cadres to attend the meeting in large numbers, considering its importance as the second biggest show of strength after the Tirupati public meeting of Chiranjeevi.

Responding with enthusiasm, party leaders in the city and district mobilised their cadres in a big way for the meeting.

Hundreds of cars, buses and bikes headed for the public meeting carrying enthusiasts, who wanted to witness the release of the party manifesto on the occasion.

One leader said that the party took it as a matter of prestige to attract wide attention of the public in the run-up to the general elections.

Meanwhile, party leaders dismissed the possibility of dalit leader Katti Padma Rao contesting elections from Gannavaram Assembly segment. Mr. Rao is stated to have opted for Razole (SC) or any other constituency where weaker sections will be predominant in numbers.

The party leadership is learnt to have asked Mr. Rao to consider contesting from Gannavaram in view of the twin advantage of attracting Kapu and dalit votes in the segment.

In respect of allowing Vangaveeti Radhakrishna to contest from Vijayawada East, the party leadership is reportedly weighing all options before finalising its stand. Sources said Mr. Radhakrishna has decided to leave it to the party leadership about his candidature from the constituency. The MLA is maintaining an ambivalent stance, saying he may or may not contest from Vijayawada East.

Party leaders said Mr. Radhakrishna was all likely to contest from Vijayawada Central segment only going by the present mood of the State leadership.

Chiru says ‘I am Mr. Clean’

Megastar Chiranjeevi stated in ‘Tagore’ flick that Andhra people are sentimental fools, he further clarified that yes they are sentimental fools, once they start loving throughout their lives they would continue to love them. Chiru further stated that let people get into his personal life and see his background, he hails from a very common family but wherever I go people would hug me close to their hearts, for me why I need to think of corruption and other illegal things. I am always against such things and as such my life is dedicated to people. During shooting of Andarivadu I saw a small boy always standing before a school and watching it desperately, its not the fault of his father for not joining in the school but its failure of Government. While Chiru was delivering his speech Dias broke down, the reason behind this is people flooding in big number over Dias at a time. But luckily nothing big disaster happened, Chiru thanked God for saving people.

PRP against fielding Radha in Patamata

In all likelihood, the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) State leadership is expected to prevail upon Vangaveeti Radhakrishna not to contest from Vijayawada East (Patamata) Assembly constituency in view of the future repercussions of such an “unwanted” move. The PRP leadership is reportedly not yielding to pressure from Mr. Radhakrishna and his followers for permitting him to contest from Vijayawada East. Consequently, he may end up entering the fray from the Vijayawada Central (Satyanarayanapuram) constituency. Mr. Radhakrishna is said to be particular on contesting from Vijayawada East not just because of his desire to challenge Kankipadu MLA Devineni Rajasekhar (Nehru), but also to benefit from the huge following his family has in Krishnalanka and a few other areas that have come under Vijayawada East after delimitation. After a series of prolonged discussions over the past few weeks, the PRP leadership, including Chiranjeevi, is said to have taken the viewpoint that it will not be good to field Mr. Radhakrishna from Vijayawada East, as this will trigger an avoidable confrontation with Nehru. Meanwhile, Raavi Venkateswara Rao is stated to have got green signal for contesting from Gudivada Assembly segment. He joined the PRP in the presence of Chiranjeevi sometime ago. Mr. Venkateswara Rao was forced to quit the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) after the arrival of film producer Kodali Srivenkateswara Rao (Nani). Following the recommendation of Junior NTR, the TDP allotted the Gudivada seat to Nani in 2004 elections. Now, Raavi Venkateswara Rao’s likely candidature will lead to an interesting triangular contest in Gudivada.

Praja Rajyam Party leader demands Chiranjjevi to issue ticket for locals

Praja Rajyam Party leader from Anakapalle, Gandham Nandagopal, on Monday demanded the party high command to select only local candidates failing which there would be resentment among the cadres who have been followers of mega star Chiranjeevi for long. Talking to media persons, he was particularly critical of PRP founder’s brother-in-law and film producer Allu Aravind who did not heed to the request of appointing separate conveners for rural and urban wings of the party. “They have made Mr. Ganta Srinivasa Rao, who was a late entrant to the party from TDP, as a single convener for the entire district. Now this gentleman, himself being non-local, is keen on imposing non-local candidates in different places. I appeal to him not to field non-locals. Otherwise, we will fight it out,” he said. When it was pointed out that the party high command might take action against him for being critical, Mr. Nandagopal said he was not afraid of any action against him. He was only making healthy criticism and came out into the open after repeated requests had failed to evoke response. He would continue to work for Chiranjeevi whether he was in the party or not, he said. Replying to questions, he said that social justice could not be achieved if local candidates were not given the opportunity and parties should not go for those whom odds favoured for a victory.

The Praja Rajyam chief, Mr Chiranjeevi, and the Telugu Desam president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Monday rubbished a poll survey predicting victory for the Congress in the state. “It is a cooked up survey and does not reflect the ground reality,” said Chiranjeevi. “It is only meant to create confusion among the voters and dampen the spirits of the Praja Rajyam cadre.” Chiranjeevi did not find any fault with the NTV and Neilson Org-MARG which conducted the survey but added that the more important aspect was “those behind the survey.” The megastar-turned-politician said that there was a silent revolution in favour of the Praja Rajyam and the party would sweep the polls. Mr C. Anjaneya Reddy, Praja Rajyam vice-president and former IPS officer, demanded a ban on the surveys 100 days before the polls saying they were being used by some parties to mislead people. Meanwhile, Mr Naidu was visibly irked by the surveys which stated that his Mahakutami would end up in the second place.
