Praja Rajyam President Padmabhushan Dr. Chiranjeevi on Saturday the 21st March 2009 sent shivers into the hearts of the opponents by beating the ‘Vijaya Bheri’ a huge drums at a record gathering in Secunderabad Parade Grounds.

This symbolized an official declaration of war against Corruption, Nepotism and misrule.

“They should come and see this gathering. If all of you breathe out once, they will be swept off in a torrent. Heeding my call in just 4-5 days, you have turned up in massive numbers here. Can’t the other parties see and hear this,” the PRP chief said at a massive ‘Praja Vijayabheri’ that marked the launch of PRP’s election campaign at the Parade Grounds here on Saturday evening.

During his one-hour speech, Chiranjeevi reacted to the Congress announcing its list of candidates for the Lok Sabha and assembly by saying that only the PRP can ensure social justice. “After us, all the other parties are speaking of social justice. Then how come the Congress has so few BCs as its candidates? In Chief Minister Y S Raja Sekhar Reddy’s native Kadapa district, could they not find a single BC candidate from there?” he questioned and said the same will be the situation with the Maha Kootami.

Holding placards that said ‘Maarpu’ which means Change, the crowd listened to his speech and applauded as he acknowledged his gratitude to them. “When I entered the film industry, I had to brave insults and humiliations. I was first recognised by you and then only by the film industry. Today, I have your love, affection and support. This is what will drive me,” he said.

TDP MLA Kothapalli Subbaraidu from Narasapuram in West Godavari joined the party on the occasion.

The meeting was attended by all the top brass of PRP like Hari Rama Jogayya, Allu Aravind, Parvathaneni Upendra, C.Rama Chandrayya, Devender Goud, Peddi Reddy, Kala Venkat Rao, K.S.R.Murthy,Pawan Kalyan,Vanga Geetha, Shobha Rani, Vasireddy Padma,Parakala Prabhakar,Tammineni Sitaram, Katti Padma Rao, Anjaneya Reddy and many others.

Unfortunately, due to the high price there are very few masks were seen in the ground. Party should extend some subsidy and the aspirants should bear some more and distribute the masks to the common public at a price band of Rs 50/- to Rs 100/-

Though it was announce that the meeting starts at 3:00 PM, it was delayed by 2 hours. Then the speeches were started by Jalli Siddayya followed by Shravan, Shobha Rani, Naga Babu, Vasireddy Padma, Katti Padma Rao, Enagala Peddi Reddy, Pawan Kalyan, Toola Devender Goud, Parakala Prabhakar and few more.

There were some scintillating folk dance performances, which attracted tremendous response from the crowds. At times the crowd also participated in the folklore.

The Vijaya Bheri seems to be a real Bheri which was used in the olden days. When Chiranjeevi started beating the drums along with Tupakula Munemma, Aruna Tara and Sayed Humayun, it sent shivers into the opponent’s camps. The war declared open. And it is not only the drums but the huge crowd that filled the entire Pared Grounds might leave sleepless nights to Chandra Babu and YSR.

The entire Parade Grounds were took a festive look with several cut-outs of Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, Allu Aravind, Naga Babu, Devender Goud and hot air balloons released by many ticket aspirants and specially there was a ‘Prabha’ which was illuminated by colorful lamps. The fire balloons released in the night were a special attraction. They adorned the Hyderabad skies like twinkling stars.

PR will give over 100 seats to BCs: Chiru

chiru-party-meeting2
Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi has said that by giving party tickets to only 66 candidates from the backward classes, Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy stood exposed.

At a press conference on Sunday, he said after crying hoarse that the list of candidates prepared by the Congress would truly reflect the party’s sincerity towards implementing social justice, people expected him to ensure that at least 100 seats were allotted to the BCs.

However, the Congress ended up giving 138 seats to the forward classes, including 87 to those from one single community (Reddys), he said, reminding the Chief Minister of the unanimous resolution passed in the Assembly in August 2008 that all parties must give one-third of the tickets to the BCs.

“The Praja Rajyam will not go back on its promise of ensuring social justice, by giving over 100 seats to the BCs,” Mr. Chiranjeevi reiterated, demanding that Dr. Reddy should quit office for not keeping his word.

Referring to the large turnout at party’s rallies in Tirupati, Rajahmundry and at the Parade Grounds here on Saturday, he said it was proof of the party’s popularity across all three regions. “There is a silent revolution happening and the day is not far, when people will vote for change and for social justice,” he said.

He shook his head in response to a query whether Praja Rajyam would ally with the TRS, with reports of the latter likely to break away from the Grand Alliance. “The time for talks is over. Members of the alliance want the world to know they are united, but fact is, they have their individual agenda.”

Asked about the search for a common symbol, Mr. Chiranjeevi said he was prepared to wait till the last minute for it. “We have furnished proof of our large membership and we are hopeful of justice being done by the EC. Otherwise too, we have our alternate plans,” he said.

Chiranjeevi alleges Naidu-YSR ‘match-fixing’

vijayabheri_4718225072
HYDERABAD: Alleging ‘match-fixing’ between Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Opposition Leader N. Chandrababu Naidu, Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi on Saturday said they were only hoodwinking people to keep power between themselves.

Addressing a mammoth ‘Praja Vijaya Bheri’ rally at the Parade Grounds here, he said the two leaders who were criticising each other all day, became good friends by night. “And the only thing they have in common was ‘corruption’, although of different magnitudes. After all, they are from the same school [Congress],” he said.

Chiru speech lacks Punch

chiri1

Praja Rajyam party’s first ever public meeting in the State capital was a tremendous hit, but unfortunately, there was nothing new in president Chiranjeevi’s speech.

The meeting began very late with crowds pouring in till late hours. While Pavan Kalyan’s speech was inspiring, Devender Goud virtually bored the audience with his routine stuff. When Chiranjeevi came up to speak, he appeared very tired and his speech did not have the expected fire works. He, however, confined himself to attacking Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu, rather than explaining what change he would bring about in the lives of people. He pointed out that not even 25 per cent of the tickets announced by the Congress were given to BCs, while Reddys could get 86 tickets.

By and large, Chiru’s meeting was a success going by the crowds, but how far it will turn into votes is still a debatable question.

Praja Vijaya Bheri – A Grand success

prp-vijayabheri
The large turn out at Praja Vijaya Bheri at Parade Grounds for Praja Vijaya Bheri had enthused Chiranjeevi and his brothers Nagababu and Pavan Kalyan to declare that the response is an answer to the opponents who commented that PRP had weak following in Telangana. Chiranjeevi said that TDP and Congress are indulging in match fixing to keep the backward classes away. These two parties are serving the interests of two social classes depriving other social classes of their share in ruling class. He said PRP would restore justice to these backward classes. He said both Babu and YSR did not give even one ticket to BC s in their native dists. Also the share of BC s in tickets issued by these parties is too less. He thundered that why these classes are denied their share in the ruling class even though they constiture more than 60% of the population.

PRP moves Supreme Court again

supremecourtindia_898656377
HYDERABAD: In a surprise move the Praja Rajyam Party again moved the Supreme Court over the common symbol issue. Party general secretary Allu Aravind filed a petition in the apex court on Thursday.

The party has moved the Supreme Court last month and withdrew the petition recently.

The party has been knocking the doors of the courts since two months to obtain a common symbol.

They appealed to the Election Commission of India in October last seeking a common symbol to the party. In the same month the ECI had informed the party that it was not possible to reserve a symbol for the party, which was not recognised as per the rules.

The PRP later moved the High Court on the decision of the ECI two months ago and sought an order for a reserved symbol. The High Court directed the ECI to reconsider its decision. The ECI had informed that the plea was not maintainable.

Dissatisfied with the ECI decision, the PRP again moved the Supreme Court and the High Court. However a day before the High Court was to pronounce its decision, the party withdrew the petitions in the Supreme Court and the High Court.

Again on Thursday, the party moved the Supreme Court challenging the propriety of the symbol allotment order of the ECI.

The recent decision of the PRP had surprised the legal experts and the party leaders as well. According to the legal experts the Supreme Court might not admit the petition, as it was not entertaining litigations on the matters like symbol allotment , which was prerogative of the ECI which was an independent constitutional body.

Even if the SC finds an extraordinary situation and admits the petition, the process would takes weeks to come to a conclusion.

If the SC does not comes out with a positive decision, the PRP would be left with the only option of contesting the election on different symbols or on symbol given on the basis of preference.

At the same time PRP is also talking of taking over a party which has a reserved symbol. If there is such a possibility, the question arising here is why is it knocking the doors of the courts time and again.

PRP Confidence For Symbol

The symbol worries of the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) seem to be nearing an end. The party has made considerable progress in borrowing the umbrella symbol from the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF).

HYDERABAD:
The symbol worries of the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) seem to be nearing an end. The party has made considerable progress in borrowing the umbrella symbol from the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF).

The party is hopeful that the Election Commission (EC) will allow it to contest on this new symbol. Party leader and Chiranjeevi’s brother Nagababu told reporters today that the PRP would be contesting on a common symbol and that the efforts to secure one were nearing completion.

According to sources, the party has come to an understanding with the SDF headed by Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling.

The SDF is a recognised party in Sikkim.

Though Chiranjeevi would get a common umbrella symbol, he would have have to, technically, be a leader of the SDF. In fact, all the PRP candidates will be contesting as SDF candidates and Chamling will have to authorise Chiranjeevi to issue B forms to candidates to fight the elections in AP on SDF’s behalf.
