engine-260

Chiranjeevi in an interview to a leading telugu TV channel revealed that he expected to get 95 to 105 seats in the second phase. When you add 75 seats expected in the first phase, Prajarajyam will get a minimum of 180 seats and a majority of seats in the assembly. The public displayed opposition to congress and lack of credibility to the claims of TDP. He did not reveal who he will support at Delhi and Hyd in a hung situation. He assured that he will go after looters of public money and currupt officials after assuming power. TDP leader Chandrababu expressed confidence that Mahakootami will get more than 200 seats. “38 of PR’s 104 BC nominees bogus”

prp_train1
Former Praja Rajyam spokesperson Parkala Prabhakar on Sunday contested the party leaders’ claim that it has rendered “social justice” by fielding 104 BC candidates. He alleged that the status of at least 38 nominees was “bogus”, while addressing a press conference here on Sunday.

He said the party had included former Rajya Sabha member C. Ramachandraiah and Jalagam Srinivas among the list of BC candidates. It was not true that the PR had rendered “justice” to BCs, as none of the 38 candidates could be so categorised. “Social justice was like a prop for the party to enact drama,” he alleged.

Mr. Prabhakar claimed receiving threats after speaking against the party and declared that he would not be cowed down.

Referring to the party’s description as “kalpavruksham” by its leaders, he said it was indeed so for “owners” and not for people.

“For people it is a poisonous tree”.

‘PR misleading people’
He accused the party of “misleading” people by stating tickets were given on the basis of a “survey”.

He wanted to know which survey suggested that PR general secretary Allu Aravind be fielded from Anakapalle, while denying a ticket to three-time MLA Mathangi Narsaiah. He charged the party with putting up “weak candidates” in some constituencies to benefit other parties.

Plea to stop telecast of Chiru, Balayya, NTR Junior films

chiru_jrntr1237195801
The Congress made a plea to Chief Electoral Officer I. V. Subba Rao here on Sunday to apply the ban imposed against telecast of “election matter” by TV channels to films of Chiranjeevi and other film heroes also belonging to TDP and other parties.

A delegation of the party, led by Ravi Shankar Jandhyala, member of the party’s campaign committee, met the CEO with the plea that the films of Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, and NTR Junior would influence the voters and therefore fit into the definition of the “election matter” cited in the Representation of People Act.

The delegation said Section 126 of the Act also imposed restrictions on screening of films and staging of cultural programmes, if undertaken as source of “entertainment and amusement” to influence voters in any form.

The CEO said that he would forward the representation to the EC for a decision.

Telegu Desam Party(TDP) Confident Of Win Elections

babu23_160344125
K Ram Mohan Rao, a senior member of the Telegu Desam Party who is also the joint secretary of the state committee has predicted that the TDP would win not less than 180seats in the Assembly elections and about 35 seats in the LS elections this time around.

Though some may argue that these estimates look a bit over stretched, Mr Ram Mohan Rao is very confident and says that these estimates are based on preliminary reports that the party has gathered through its network in the state.

The TDP is leaving no stone unturned in its effort to win the elections and the party is very confident that, its record of good governance would come in handy in winning the following elections. Let us wait and watch if the TDP would translate its good image into votes this time around.

Interview Junior NTR Says ‘Rajasekhar Reddy is a great leader’

ntr
Actor and Telugu Desam star campaigner Junior NTR said he did not have any personal political aspirations and only wanted to support the party his grandfather founded.

Junior NTR, who was laid up after a road mishap, was discharged from the Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences in the early hours of Saturday.

He told this newspaper in an exclusive interview that he wanted to get back into campaign, but doctors had advised him to take rest for four weeks. Though he was campaigning for the TD, he said he considered the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, a great leader and Praja Rajyam chief Chiranjeevi a great actor.

Exclusive Jr Ntr LIve Interview:

How is your health now?
I am recovering fast. Now that I am back home, I am feeling much better.

The TD and other Mahakutami leaders are eagerly waiting for your return. Will you be campaigning again?
It is not only the TD and Mahakutami. I too am looking to strike back, but I don’t think I will do it directly, because doctors want me to rest.

There is a talk that in case you are unable to campaign, your audio video recordings will be broadcast. Is it true?
Well… we are actually planning many things but haven’t decided on anything concrete yet.

Your campaign has evoked mixed reactions in the NTR family. While Naidu, Balakrishna and other family members sought your support, your aunt and Congress LS candidate, Daggubati Purandareswari, said you should not have been exposed so much.
I have a great respect for my aunt and the same for my uncles. It is just how each individual wants to see it. Film acting is my career and campaigning for the TD is my responsibility.

Among the NTR family stars, you are the most popular and have a large following. Does it create friction in family?
Why would it when everyone is happy with my success?

Will the huge turnout in your campaign ensure support for the Mahakutami?
Definitely. As a film star, this is not the first time I have attended a public meeting. I am experienced enough to know the difference between a public function and a political meeting. The responses for my political meetings was really captivating. And it will definitely turn out into a big support for Mahakutami.

Do you think people are seeking a change of government in AP?
By the response I got from the public, I am sure that people do seek a change in the government, because they have been through a lot of mess these five years. They have seen people losing lands, they have seen people losing lives… I am sure that people need a change. And the only choice is Mahakutami.

Do you want to emulate your grandfather NTR and become the Chief Minister one day?
Whatever I am today it is because of my grandfather’s blessings and my hard work. And I am here to fulfil my responsibility serving the party that he has founded. Apart from that, I do not have any personal aspirations to plunge into direct politics.

Did you ever feel that the TD should have gone it alone instead of joining hands with the Left and the TRS?
I am not a political analyst. But I think the decision to join hands with the Left parties and the TRS is a right move. It is just like combining all our strengths to defeat one big enemy. And when different forces unite, it is obvious that you will have petty problems. But they can be solved over a cup of coffee.

Do you endorse freebies like the cash transfer scheme, free power to farmers, free colour TVs and the like?

I foresee a great economic transformation through the cash transfer scheme. It will help the poorer sections to fight recession. And free colour TV will empower the rural masses through education and entertainment.

Are your family issues settled?
Were there any issues to be settled? I am happy with my family.

What’s your opinion about the Chief Minister and Chiranjeevi?

Dr Rajasekhar Reddy is a great leader in his own way. And Chiranjeevi is a great actor.

How’s your relationship with Chiranjeevi after your campaign in elections? What did he say when he called on you.
We all carry a sense of decency and decorum in keeping profession and politics separate. At a personal level, I do respect Chiranjeevi garu as an actor.

Were you driving the car when the road accident occurred?
I was not driving the car. Since it was a sharp curve, the vehicle couldn’t control itself. I heard that more than 400 accidents took place in the same area.

How many films of yours are on the floor?

I do one film at a time and don’t want to rush. Right now, I am doing a film with Mr V.V. Vinayak which is going to be my next release.

Chiru PRP is a commercial hit!

11_424272403
Hyderabad: It is an irony of sorts. On a day when Prajarajyam president K Chiranjeevi boasted that his party would be swept to power, within the party, leaders and the cadre are wondering whether the PRP would be in existence by the time the next elections happen.

Just eight months after a promising start and a huge public meeting in Tirupati, the PRP is going through an existential dilemma. “For a party that had promised social justice, tickets for the Lok Sabha and assembly seats have been sold away to all and sundry. And all the few that joined the party with a genuine dream of social change have been left out in the cold. In cinema terms, PRP is a commercial hit. All the prints have been sold at a huge price. Now, the producers need not worry whether the movie would perform or not,” is what an admirer of Chiranjeevi who could not get a ticket from a constituency in Anantapur district said as to what is happening within the party.

Thus an exodus has begun even before the election results are out. This even as allegations are floating around that some rich TDP candidates and some ministers in the Congress have got weak candidates of their choice fielded on behalf of the PRP by paying money to its leadership. Many expressed shock over the PRP giving a ticket to D K Srinivas, son of liquor baron, TTD chairman and now Congress leader D K Adikesavulu.

Those unhappy over the direction the PRP is heading include Chiranjeevi himself, according to party sources. “Many influential Congress and TDP legislators who had earlier promised to join him have backtracked,” said one leader. Bureaucrat K V Rao and Dalit leader K S R Murthy are sore that they have been denied tickets. Seniors like P Shivshankar and P Upendra too are unhappy as they have been given no role in party affairs. Women’s wing chief N Shobarani too is likely to leave the party after being denied a ticket from Vemur in Guntur district. BC aspirant B Rajkumar is livid that movie star U Krishnam Raju, who joined the party only last week, has been preferred over him for the Rajahmundry seat.

G Samaram, noted social activist from Vijayawada, went on record to say that the social justice concept was only an appealing mask. “Now, it is clear that social justice of Chiranjeevi is ‘social justice for his men’,” he told the media. All those who joined the party with the hope that Annayya (Chiranjeevi) would herald social justice have left it disillusioned, he said.

In this context, it has already become an issue of survival for the PRP. “With insiders and surveys predicting two Lok Sabha and between 30-35 assembly seats, can Chiranjeevi stop an exodus of his elected representatives and other leaders to other parties? And what will he himself do with that many number of seats. As an opposition leader, it would be difficult for him to keep the party going for five years,” said one analyst.

Thus even before it faces the people, the PRP appears to crumble from within.

Etv Ramoji Rao Also Talks To Chiru and JP

ramoji11238984380

It has often been said in political circles and public that the media baron Ramoji Rao is a strong TDP man and more than that, he is the king maker in Andhra Pradesh. Obviously, his support for Mahakootami and especially TDP would be quite bright and it is heard that he keeps in touch with the top shots of the party.

However, there is now news that Ramoji has been in regular talks with megastar Chiranjeevi and Jayaprakash Narayan too. Incidentally, the arrival of the Praja Rajyam Party has strongly affected TDP and so Ramoji is said to be tense about TDP going weak in few places.

At the same time, Ramoji is also said to be in talks with JP and all this is being done in view of a situation wherein there will be a hung. If that happens, then it will be people like JP and debutante Chiru who would call the shots to form the government. Let us see if the Kingmaker gets successful or not.
