Tumultuous Reception to Chiru

prajarajyam15
It is tumultuous reception all the way to PRP president Chiranjeevi in wetland areas of East Godavari on penultimate day, Sunday, which PRP cadres not at all expected. Chiranjeevi received rousing welcome and rooftops, trees and two-storied buildings were occupied by youth and women to have glimpse of mega star. He was four hours behind the schedule, but people eagerly waited for him, braving scorching sun in many places.

“We want to hear what he will promise and want to compare with the speech of Junior NTR, who toured this place recently,” said Satyanarayana Chowdary, hardware shop owner in Mandapeta town.

Chiranjeevi’s speech was different each day during his last four days.

He made it a point to raise farmer’s issues on Sunday, as he was touring wetland area, where the number of farmers was more.

He lashed out at Agriculture Minister Raghuveera Reddy, who, he said, was responsible for non-availability of fertilizers on time to farmers and pesticides at affordable prices.

“We can see greenery in some places here. But there is no happiness on the faces of farmers as the investment by farmers increased four times,” he said while people responded huge applause. VVS Chowdary, who is expected to contest as PRP candidate from Mandapeta along with district convener M.S. Chakravarthi, was with Chiranjeevi on his special vehicle.

‘No votes for glamour’
In Anaparti, he made it clear that glamour only did not fetch votes, but response from people showed the strength of the party.

He asked voters to go for mouth publicity which was one of the best sources to get the party to power. He said all parties were now chanting `social justice’ mantra.

He cautioned people that if they gave vote to Congress or TDP they would suffer for five more years. Kovvuri Narsi Reddy, Padala Venktarama Reddy, Relangi Nageswara Rao, Satti Trinatha Reddy, ZPTC Kukkala Naresh and others followed Chiranjeevi in Anaparti.

He was received at Lalacheruvu on Rajahmundry outskirts around 7.30 p.m. which is five hours behind schedule.

His vehicle moved fast on the streets of Rajahmundry and had stopped at many places. Chall Sankar Rao, Bommana Rajkumar, Lieutenant Murthy Jasti and others participated.

Chiru’s White House At Rs 1 Lakh Per Month

chiruwhitehouse1238305267

PRP Chief Chiranjeevi is stepping into White House. Well, that’s not the one located in Washington DC. It’s in Tirupathi. The house is called White House by locals as that was built in that style. That belongs to Sasidhar Reddy, the owner of a private hospital.

Chiranjeevi decided to stay in Tirupathi and close to people during the time of elections and hence asked his people to search for a house in Tirupathi. The PRP crew searched for various houses and finally things have got zeroed in on this 3000 Sft house located in Khadi Colony that happens to be the heart of the city.

Initially Sasidhar Reddy found reluctant to rent his house but after series of negotiations and offers have gave that house just for 2 months at Rs 1 lakh per month. Chiranjeevi is taking the possession of this house on 2nd April as the day is auspicious because of Saptami. A temporary road was laid in front of this house by PRP people only.

Allu Aravind to contest from Anakapalli

alluarvind1236322749

The announcement of the first list of candidates by the Prajarajyam Party after a long wait was greeted with protests here on Friday.

After much suspense, PRP president Chiranjeevi released the first list of 100 assembly and nine Lok Sabha seats at Jaggampet in East Godavari. Chiranjeevi would himself contest from Tirupati assembly seat in the second phase while his brother-in-law Allu Aravind is to contest from the Anakapalli Lok Sabha seat.

The announcement was greeted with a howl of protests by failed aspirants at the party office at Jubilee Hills here. Ticket seekers from the Maheshwaram assembly seat sat on an indefinite dharna at the party office demanding that one of them should be given the seat. The PRP has nominated A V N Reddy from that seat. The protesters relented only after PRP president Chiranjeevi spoke to them from East Godavari.

Chiranjeevi said his party had allotted 48 assembly seats to BCs, 13 to SCs, seven to STs, five to minorities and 27 to other classes, in line with the party’s philosophy of social justice to all. He reiterated that the PRP was committed to give 100 seats to BCs. In Tirupati assembly seat, the PRP chief would pitch himself against two local strongmen — B Karunakar Reddy of the Congress and Sankar Reddy of the TDP.

PR looking for a perfect caste equation?

12_chiru_1908_430xx
HYDERABAD: Notwithstanding expressions of confidence from senior leaders that the Praja Rajyam would sweep the polls, the think tank in the fledgling party is busy working out caste equations, a factor that it expects to give them an edge in over 100 seats.

Till late on Wednesday evening, the party’s political brains were busy putting together firm numbers. Internal analyses of the party based on surveys, a top source said, included good performance in 25 of the 34 seats in the North coastal districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam and 25 of the 34 constituencies in East and West Godavari. Also, the surveys, using different mechanisms, have given it 25 each in Telangana and Rayalaseema.

Having done the groundwork to achieve a minimum of 100 seats, the party is going forward with focus on fielding more candidates from the BCs, scheduled castes and tribes and minorities too, giving it that much more results. A leader said they were trying to have at least one Muslim from every district too.

Game plan
Enquiries with senior leaders revealed that they had a clear game plan of securing the maximum number of seats in the five districts of coastal Andhra, keeping the demographic profile of the region in mind. Guidelines being followed wherever possible include pitting a candidate from the backward classes to fight the opposition if it fielded a ‘Kamma’ or a ‘Reddy’ and use the sway that ‘Rajus’ and ‘Kapus’ held in these districts to the best advantage of the Praja Rajyam.

As the first list of the TDP was announced, there was a flurry of unobtrusive activity. Party chief K. Chiranjeevi, general secretary Allu Aravind and Yuva Rajyam president Pawan Kalyan began holding parleys with leaders for fine-tuning the list of candidates. Mr. Chiranjeevi is scheduled to fly on Thursday morning on his tour of East Godavari district.

Krishnam Raju embarrasses Chiru

24pan7b
Finally, former Union Minister U V Krishnam Raju joined Praja Rajyam Party in the presence of its president Chiranjeevi.

However, Krishnam Raju created some embarrassing moments for Chiranjeevi, while addressing a joint press conference. He said he had no problems with Bharatiya Janata Party, whatsoever, but decided to join the PRP only because he felt that he would not be able to serve the state by being in the BJP. To a question, he said at the national level, he would prefer the BJP to the Congress in forming the government.

This naturally created trouble for Chiru, who had earlier outrightly ruled out aligning with the BJP. Chiru, took the mike, and said he did not oppose the BJP or any other party for that matter, but only said the PRP policy was secular and hence would not suit the BJP philosophy.

There was another embarrassing question from the media: whether Krishnam Raju, who was a guru for Chiranjeevi in films, would remain the same in the PRP. Chiranjeevi laughed it off and said he was prepared to give the mantle to Krishnam Raju and be with the people always.

Fact Sheet: Roja’s Claps for Chiranjeevi

rojanew11237950034
It needs no introduction to talk about the bitter rivalry that Roja has for megastar Chiranjeevi or the Praja Rajyam Party. It has got even bitterer after the controversy that happened between Roja and Shobha Rani. However, here is something on the lighter side to break the ice.

Recently, Roja was invited as the celebrity judge for a dance show and it also had the famous Siva Reddy as the anchor. Given the immense mimicry talent that Siva Reddy has got, entertainment was in store for not just the audience but also the judges and the participants.

So when megastar Chiranjeevi was imitated by Siva Reddy, the reaction to see was from Roja and she was clapping and laughing her heart out. Some say that in real time this would have not been possible so Roja is making the most of it in reel life scenario and that too on a mimicry artiste who imitates Chiranjeevi.

‘Chiru party’ waiting for turncoats

chiru
Hyderabad: The TDP on Tuesday said all the differences have been sorted out with its alliance partner TRS and the latter has agreed for 9 Lok Sabha and 49 Assembly seats and a formal announcement would be made on Wednesday morning.

“However, it is best to wait for TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao to announce the seats that they are sharing as anything can happen with KCR,” a TDP leader said.

Meanwhile, the PRP said it will announce its first list of candidates on Wednesday. Also, the party is still to release its manifesto although it made public a draft manifesto a few days ago. PRP sources said the party is having a tough time in getting candidates for several constituencies.

“Although we have kept many seats for BCs, we are not getting candidates from these communities. Besides, we are waiting for a few bigwigs (like Krishnam Raju who joined the party on Tuesday) to join the party after which we will give them tickets. Hence the delay in announcing the nominees. With regard to the manifesto, the final touches are being given and it too will be released shortly,” said one PRP leader.

According to PRP sources, another reason that the PRP is delaying its list is that it expects many in the TDP and TRS who are denied tickets by their respective parties to join the Chiranjeevi party. “We expect an exodus from these two parties that will also give us candidates for several constituencies,” the sources added.

Election Tamasha: Stampede fear in Praja Rajyam office

13_chiru_1908_430xx
Whenever Chiranjeevi’s new flicks hit theatres, proprietors of cinema halls used to take utmost security measures fearing stampede at the ticket counters.

Now, a similar situation is prevailing at Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam headquarters as the selection of PR candidates for the upcoming polls is coming to an end.

This has prompted the Praja Rajyam authorities to tighten security at the their central offices.

Allotment of Assembly tickets has kept the security staff of the PR central offices on their toes.

The swanky building at Jubilee Hills, which houses Geeta Arts office, a film production house of Mr Allu Aravind, brother-in-law of Chiranjeevi, has turned into a fortress.

The glass walls of the building have been covered with plywood boards to minimise damage in case disgruntled aspirants turn violent. Mr Aravind is playing a key role in the selection process of the PR candidates.

The fledgling party has already tasted the wrath of party leaders who attacked PR offices in various districts when the state committee was announced.

Interestingly, the PR leadership is conducting “counselling classes” for aspirants who are vying for the same seat, so as to pacify the discontent among them.

Along with Mr Aravind and Mr Devender Goud, Chiranjeevi is taking part in these meetings to justify the reasons for chosing a particular candidate.

Chiranjeevi has warned ticket aspirants in his party not to resort to dissidence if they are denied tickets.

He said any dissident activity would be dealt with firmly.

The Praja Rajyam is now giving final touches to the list of candidates. The party leadership is planning to release the first list with 70 candidates either on Tuesday or Wednesday.

“We are expecting a large number of people to migrate from the Grand Alliance after the Telugu Desam releases its first list. So, we are not finalising candidates in segments where Mahakutami members are at loggerheads,” said a close aide of Chiranjeevi.
