The list seems to be endless. Why this exodus from the Praja Rajyam?

Except one or two all other are persons of their own stature and commitment to the society. We can not afford to lose their services just because of our materialistic behavior. Let us put a full stop here.

In a major setback to Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party, its General Secretary Mr. Prakala Prabhakar on Thursday resigned from the party and lashed out at its top leadership over the selection of candidates and style of functioning.

Mr. Parakala Prabhakar, a former Bharatiya Janata Party leader, was one of the first leaders to join the MegaStar’s party. His resignation came after days of speculations that Prabhakar, the only Brahmin leader of the party, had decided to quit after he was denied a party ticket. He was also reportedly upset about the PRP leadership denying tickets to several candidates recommended by him, amid allegations that Chiranjeevi’s brother in law Allu Aravind had sold the tickets for Crores of rupees.

Prabhakar is among several top leaders of the party who have resigned in the last few days. Former state intelligence chief and retired Indian Police Service Officer Mr. C Anjaneya Reddy, who was the founder Vice President of the party, has also resigned. Speculations are rife that P Mitra, party General Secretary and Chiranjeevi’s advisor, is also planning to quit.

After the media started playing up the news of Prabhakar’s resignation, a shaken Allu Aravind rushed to his residence to placate him. But Prabhakar refused to meet Aravind.

“PRP has turned into a poisonous tree and I have don’t have the strength to uproot this tree. This tree is poisoning the state politics,” the disgruntled leaders told reporters.

In a stinging attack on Chiranjeevi and the coterie around him, Prakala Prabhakar said that PRP had become a business house and he can not be part of the ‘PRP company’.

“I have not taken this decision out of anger or rage but with a lot of pain and agony. There are inherent flaws in the party and no body can correct it,” he added.

Continuing his attack, Prabhakar claimed that he failed to understand why the “PRP had been launched.”

“The promise of change the party had made remains unfulfilled. The objective of the party seems to be completely different,” Lashing out at Prabhakar, PRP’s official spokesperson P Upendra said that he had quit the party because he had been denied a ticket. “We regret his resignation because he was a senior leader in the party. But we don’t think it will weaken the party,” he stated.

Chiru flays Congress, TRS on Telangana issue

Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi on Wednesday alleged that both the Congress and the TRS are using the Telangana card for political gain instead of addressing the issue.

“Had they been serious why the issue was not addressed in the past four or five years. How long they want to cheat the people?” he asked while addressing a series of public meetings in Medak district on Wednesday.

At Patancheru, Mr. Chiranjeevi said that even the AICC president Sonia Gandhi tried to get the votes in the name of Telangana once again at her public meeting held on Tuesday.

“Praja Rajyam is for Telangana and I have not broken the promises like they did,” he said .

Chiru PRP Karimnagar tour on April 10, 11

In order to give fillip to the party’s election campaign, Praja Rajyam founder-president Chiranjeevi would be conducting a two-day whirl tour of Karimnagar district on April 10 and 11 by addressing road-side meetings.

Disclosing this to newsmen, PR district convenor Velichala Rajender Rao said that Mr. Chiranjeevi would address roadside meetings in Bejjanki, Jammikunta, Husnabad, Sircilla, Choppadandi and a massive public meeting in Karimnagar town at Ambedkar stadium on April 10. After night halt in Karimnagar town, he would address meetings in Jagtial and Korutla towns on April 11 and proceed to Nizamabad district for the campaign.

He also said that they were also planning to invite Yuva Rajyam president Pawan Kalyan for the electioneering on April 14 tentatively.

Launching a scathing attack against TRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao for fielding non-local candidates B. Vinod Kumar from the Karimnagar Parliament constituency and his son K. Tarakarama Rao from Sircilla Assembly segment in the district, Mr. Rajender Rao wanted to know whether there was no TRS leader from the district to be fielded in the elections. He said that the people would teach a fitting lesson to the TRS for betraying the cause of Telangana.

He charged that KCR as Union Minister failed to take up any developmental works in the district and instead shifted the ESI Hospital sanctioned in Karimnagar district to his native Siddipet town.

PR leaders K. Devender Rao, Md. Areef, G. Ashok and others were also present.

Chiru blames Media people?

Chiru was speaking to media today in the Party’s head office.

1. When the media asked to react on Parakala Prabhakar’s resignation- Chiru said ‘ This is not that big thing where I should react.

2. Chiru blamed the media for highlighting the media for small things that happening in the PRP.

3. Chiru questioned media ‘ Can you people show the party where there are no such small internal problems- I don’t know why the media highlighting the news of PRP.’

4. Chiru says ‘ We stood for Social justice by allotting 104 MLA seats to BCs. Some people are purposely blaming our party- we will teach a lesson to those soon’.

5. Chiru said that he has given chances to so many downtrodden people, PRP isn’t Visha Vruksham- It is Kalpa Vruksham’.

Praja Rajyam Party gets another jolt

The Praja Rajyam (PR) received another body blow when its general secretary Parakala Prabhakar resigned from the party on Thursday after describing it as “a poisonous tree” and an “undesirable force.”

Mr. Prabhakar tendered his resignation under rather dramatic circumstances. Shortly after noon, he went to the party office and left his resignation letter on a table adjacent to the chamber of PR president K. Chiranjeevi.

He said he no longer believed that the PR could deliver on its promise of “social justice.”

The decision of Mr. Prabhakar, who is one of the visible faces of the party by virtue of being its official spokesman, comes close on the heels of the resignation of C. Anjaneya Reddy, vice-president, on Sunday. He caused a flutter by holding a press conference in the party office. On its part, the party looked unconcerned.

Senior leaders P. Upendra and Uma Malleswara Rao said that while Mr. Prabhakar’s resignation was unfortunate, the party would steam ahead on the charisma of its president K. Chiranjeevi.

Mr. Prabhakar said he took the decision to quit with a heavy heart and a lot of concern after realising that the party had no sense of direction. “I thought change is possible through such parties and we could get rid of corruption- ridden politics.”

“We feel deceived”
“But we feel deceived,” he said. “I feel that I have the responsibility to tell people the truth and to tender an apology for the way people were deceived over the months.”

Admitting that he had a role to play in the whole affair, he said he was pained.

On allegations that party tickets were sold and large sums of money had changed hands, he said there appeared to be some truth in it but did not elaborate.

Megastar Chiranjeevi has always been known as the ‘Annayya’ for many but then there is one man whom Chiru refers to as ‘Annayya’. He is none other than rebel star Krishnam Raju and now their association has got even closer with the veteran star joining the party of megastar.
