Praja Rajyam Party leader from Anakapalle, Gandham Nandagopal, on Monday demanded the party high command to select only local candidates failing which there would be resentment among the cadres who have been followers of mega star Chiranjeevi for long. Talking to media persons, he was particularly critical of PRP founder’s brother-in-law and film producer Allu Aravind who did not heed to the request of appointing separate conveners for rural and urban wings of the party. “They have made Mr. Ganta Srinivasa Rao, who was a late entrant to the party from TDP, as a single convener for the entire district. Now this gentleman, himself being non-local, is keen on imposing non-local candidates in different places. I appeal to him not to field non-locals. Otherwise, we will fight it out,” he said. When it was pointed out that the party high command might take action against him for being critical, Mr. Nandagopal said he was not afraid of any action against him. He was only making healthy criticism and came out into the open after repeated requests had failed to evoke response. He would continue to work for Chiranjeevi whether he was in the party or not, he said. Replying to questions, he said that social justice could not be achieved if local candidates were not given the opportunity and parties should not go for those whom odds favoured for a victory.
