Radha’s Men Beat up Ranga’s Loyalists

Posted by chiru On December - 26 - 2008

Vijayawada: The city boiled once again on Friday, after more than two decades, as MLA Vangaveeti Radhakrishna’s men beat up the Congress leaders and followers of slain Congress MLA, Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga Rao, on his death anniversary.

Radhakrishna’s men chased the Congress leaders, including senior Congress leader and Ranga’s loyalist Malladi Vishnu. They also beat up the supporters of Vishnu and hurled soda bottles at them injuring one person. The melee had spread to the busy Besant Road, where the traders have downed the shutters fearing riot. The Governorpet area is in tension now as the police arrested Congress leaders, include Vishnu, the party floor leader in Municipal Corporation, Kunuku Raja Sekhar and a few others.

Radhakrishna, a Congress MLA from Vijayawada East, switched over his loyalties to the Praja Rajyam Party last week and challenged the Congress men to observe his father’s death anniversary. The angry young MLA garlanded the statue of Ranga on M G Road and went on to Krishna Lanka area to participate in several prorgammes organized on the occasion.

A few minutes later Vishnu, senior Congress leaders, Kolanukonda Sivaji, Adapa Nagendra and Badita Shankar, reached the venue and garlanded the statue. They also tied the Congress’ tricolour cloth around Ranga.

Ranga’s widow and former MLA, Rathna Kumari, who was watching the Congress men garlanding her husband’s statue alerted her son, Radhakrishna, who rushed to the spot along with his supporters. Both Rathnakumari and Radhakrishna removed the Congress cloth and chased the Congressmen. The angry PRP workers also hurled sticks at the vehicles of the Congress leaders as both Radhakrishna and Rathnakumari hurled abuses at the Congress leaders.

The Radhakrishna’s supporters chased the Congress workers in the lanes of Besant Road hurling soda bottles. In the melee, a Youth Congress worker, Koppisetti Durga Rao, received bleeding injuries.

Recovering from the shock, the Congress leaders held a protest at Besant Road, who were immediately removed by the police. The police provided security in the entire Governorpet area to prevent untoward incidents.

The irony is that it was Malladi Vishnu who installed the bronze statue of Ranga, when Rathnakumari and Radhakrishna did not take interest in that. In fact, Vishnu had been rallying a good number of Ranga’s followers and had saved several of Ranga’s loyalists from the TD’s onslaught in 1990s.

With elections approaching soon, the Praja Rajyam Party is gearing up for nominating it’s candidates and the task seems to be Herculean. The party top panel is in serious discussions on choosing the right candidates for specific constituencies.

Some of the internal discussion seem to be pointing at the possibility of Chiranjeevi contesting from Narsapur his original choice and home constituency and also from Tirupathi , if sources are to be believed he may contest from both the places.

Several names have also floated for other prominent constituencies and leaders from the party. Ex-IAS officers who are playing a key role in the party development; K.V.Rao and Thota Chandrashekar may be contesting from Ankapalli and Guntur respectively. B.C leader Vanki Penchalliah may contest from Nellore assembly, prominent party personality Dr. Vinay Kumar may contest from Sanathnagar, the Vijaywada constituency may be given to kesineni, Chiranjeevi’s brother nagubabu may contest from chodavaram Dr.Simhadri may contest from Avanigadda, Bhooma Nagi reddy may contest from Nandyala, Eluru may see Kotagiri Vidhya Dhar rao as the party candidate, all the while several other key constituencies and leaders are still to see some clear light on the nominations.

The party high command, and key planning committee seems to be working extra hard to ensure a all pleasing nomination and also with a focus on the parties ideology.

Speaking at a public gathering held here in Medak district, Chiranjeevi shot back at the Congress leadership in the state, this was fuelled by a recent remark by congress party supreme stating Chiranjeevi was a leader with a curse.

Coming back strongly at the statement, Prajarajyam Party Chief Chiranjeevi said he was a peoples man, and that he was not a leader who begged for votes and then walked away from people’s problems, further he said he wasn’t corrupt and hadn’t looted people’s wealth over years, he reminded people that he was here on peoples choice and his mission was to build a society that frees itself from corruption and he said he will strive for equality and prosperity for all.

Chiranjeevi further pointed at the pathetic state of the current government, saying they had failed on standing by their promises, and he opined all the policies and welfare promises made by Congress were all attempts to gain votes and not a dedication to serve people.

Corruption in public service and health sectors, deep rooted corruption in government and allied services, disparity, bad state of farming, and the misuse of farmers land in the name of SEZs, Chiranjeevi said if these were not true signs of a government that was nothing but a curse on people and democracy?

Chiranjeevi’s fiery reply was cheered by a huge gathering of people, and this came as a reply to Congress leadership’s out burst claiming Chiranjeevi to be a film star who was a curse to people.

In the wake of heated throwbacks PRP and Congress are leaving no stone unturned to point chunks in each others political armor.

Sangareddy, Zaheerabad, Patancheru, Jinaram: They are siphoning off hundreds of crores, and still give clean chit to them stating that they are good people. They are not conducting any enquiries. They themselves act as judges and give clean chit to these corrupt officials. “Can an ordinary employee earn 100 crores without the support of MLAs and Ministers?” questioned Mr. Chiranjeevi. Mr. Suryanarayana was caught by ACB 4 years back and yet he could manage to earn 200 crores assets, how this possible questioned Mr. Chiranjeevi. On Monday Mr. Chiranjeevi addressed public gatherings at Sangareddy, Zaheerabad, Patancheru and Jinaram located in Medak district. Mr. Chiranjeevi alleged that CM is giving a clean chit to his close associate who was involved in DEP scam. In case of ‘sand scam’ they are only acting as judges and giving judgments lambasted Mr. Chiranjeevi. He says that public issues are not discussed in the assembly sessions. The ruling and opposition parties are making counter charges of corruption against each other. The ruling party is not showing any guts and denying these allegations and is not daring to hold enquiries, opines Mr. Chiranjeevi. Mr. Chiranjeevi expressed his unhappiness over the behavior of both the ruling party as well as opposition. He told that Praja Rajyam is emerging as third front in the state and this is creating panic in ruling and opposition parties.

Is this in benefit of Farmers?

The government says that it is pro farmer government but what it has done for the benefit of farmers, he questioned. Previously he told that paddy cultivation used to take place in Medak District but now the farmers are becoming mechanics due to the free power supply to the farmers by the government as their motors are getting burnt and transformers are getting damaged. To repair them the farmers are acting as mechanics by using nuts and blots and screw drivers, says Mr. Chiranjeevi. In the process of repairing these damaged equipments the farmers are getting subjected to electric shocks and getting killed. By seeing all this he told that one could understand that government is treating farmer’s life very cheaply.

Patancheru will be made pollution free:

He told that if Praja Rajyam Party is voted to power they would make Patancheru area pollution free by taking appropriate and adequate steps to check the pollution. He visited a local Hanuman Temple and offered his prayers.

My father is not CM, says Mr. Chiranjeevi:

I have to look at the time while speaking to you all, says Mr. Chiranjeevi. They are implying many rules in my case. I went to Nalgonda meeting 10 minutes late. I wanted to explain to the people why I came late. I pleaded with the police but all my requests went vain, says Mr. Chiranjeevi.

A police case filed against CM’s son-in-law

Posted by chiru On December - 23 - 2008

Suryapet, Nalgonda District: Nalgonda police filed a case against CM’s son-in-law Mr. Anilkumar for addressing a meeting after night 10 pm held in Suryapet on Sunday. On Sunday afternoon a case was booked against Mr. Chiranjeevi, founder of PRP for addressing a public meeting even after 10 pm on Saturday night. But in the case of CM’s son-in-law meeting, no case was booked by the police. So on Monday some PRP leaders protested against this incident in a Gandhian Method by presenting flower bouquets to the District SP. The police officials acted immediately as this may trigger a political turmoil in the state. The police officials after consulting the higher officials in Hyderabad booked a case against CM’s son-in-law after getting permission from them. Mr. Anilkumar addressed the meeting till 11:30 pm on Sunday without any obstacles. As there was a violation of time rule a case was booked against him along with persons who supplied him mikes, electrical equipment, and the program in-charge. In case of Praja Rajyam Party a case was booked against its founder Mr. Chiranjeevi as well as party leaders who participated in the meeting.

Vangaveeti Joined PRP With Caste Feeling

Posted by chiru On December - 22 - 2008

In what is being seen as a rather crucial development in the Vijayawada political situation the long standing associate of the Congress party Vangaveeti Radhakrishna has finally called it quits to the party and has taken the waters of the Praja Rajyam Party being led by megastar Chiranjeevi.

This move has been met with a fair share of criticism as folks have begun to say that Vangaveeti has done this purely on the caste feeling. He happens to be a ‘Kapu’ and so is Chiru. Now, even the locals are said to be of a very negative feeling that Vangaveeti has actually taken a wrong decision by doing this.

Meanwhile, it is becoming more evident that PRP has been becoming more of a caste oriented party and while they might think that the inclusion of an experienced and ambitious leader like Vangaveeti might help given his legacy, it remains to be seen who will end up with what in the time to come.

Although Radha’s father is Kapu and mother Kamma, he tends towards Kapus and loves only Kapus as per the sources.

SANGAREDDY: The three-day visit of Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi would commence from December 22 in Medak district.

This would be his second visit to the district. The actor turned politician had community lunch at SIngannagudem during his first leg of the tour in the district.

Beginning at BHEL at 1 p.m. on December 22, he would be addressing four meetings at Patancheru, Sangareddy and Zaheerabad. Night stay would be at Zaheerabad followed by a press conference the following day and a visit to the Vinayaka temple at Rechintal.

Public meetings
On December 23, Chiranjeevi will address public meetings at Narayanakhed, Jogipet, Medak and Narasapur. He will leave for Hyderabad the same day and begin his next day visit from Gajwel and cover Siddipet and Dubbaka. Though PR is confident of pulling crowds to the meetings , the question is how strong it would be at areas like Siddipet , the strong hold of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the home town of its president K. Chandrasekhara Rao. “Our success in the region will depend on how best we can present ourselves in Siddipet. If we are able to do that, it is sure that we will cross one of the major hurdles and create confidence among the people in Telangana region,” said a Praja Rajyam party leader.

Megastar Chiranjeevi film story

Posted by chiru On December - 22 - 2008

Like it or not but there is surely a vacuum that has been created after megastar Chiranjeevi has left the filmdom to enter the field of politics. The throne that he has been sitting on as the emperor of the Telugu film industry from the past few years has now gone empty and the absence is felt by his fans.

Incidentally, the worst hit apart from the elders and the youth happen to be the kids of different ages who have always idolized Chiru for dance and dialogues. There is news that many of them have wanted to see Chiru back on screen and it is majorly due to his gracious dance moves that till date has not been achieved by any other actor.

For now, Chiru seems to be dancing to the tunes of politics and allegations so it might never be that you are going to see him on the screen looking at the current situation. The last ray of hope seems to be the new movie of Charan and a song that is rumored to have him with Chiru shaking a leg.
