Unsuccessful Telugu Desam candidate from Rajahmundry Murali Mohan met Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi at the PRP office on Tuesday and congratulated him for his victory in the elections from Tirupati.

However, Murali Mohan did it not in his individual capacity, but in the capacity of Movie Artistes Association president. Other members of the MAA – AVS, Ahuti Prasad, Brahmaji and others, also accompanied Murali Mohan to the PRP office.

They requested Chiranjeevi to take up the problems of film artistes in the assembly and solve them.

Chiru plans to plug Praja Rajyam loopholes

Posted by chiru On May - 7 - 2009

The Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi is planning to revamp the party in the wake of loopholes identified during the run-up to the 2009 elections in the state.
Chiranjeevi received many suggestions from the party candidates who contested for the Lok Sabha and Assembly seats apart from leaders from different districts during his closed door meetings with them after the polls. The major complaints pertained to delay in getting the election symbol, lack of awareness about the symbol, lack of effective political organisation at the village and district levels, communication gap at the party headquarters, lack of response from party leaders on urgent matters at the grassroot level among others.
The actor reportedly assured candidates that he would reorganise the party soon with permanent committees at all levels and sought cooperation of all the party leaders and workers.
Chiranjeevi told party Lok Sabha, Assembly candidates and senior party leaders to call him directly in case of an emergency. He made it clear that he has no plans to hold the MP and MLA candidates in a camp after the counting on May 16 in order to keep his flock together.
Sources told this newspaper that the actor told party candidates from different districts that he gave them tickets in good faith and expected them to be loyal to the party in defeat or victory.
“I have no plans to hold camps like others. I have faith in you and trust you. You have done exceptionally well with the available resources in the elections. You can call me any time for any help you require. In case, I am busy, I will get back to you. I have a winning team and we are winning,” he remarked.
When a candidate said the party could have done much better if more funds were pumped in, he denied the same. “Money will only ensure publicity, but it will not fetch votes. You require credibility,” he said.
Hitting out at those trying to malign him and his party by alleging that they were collecting money from candidates, the PR chief said he gave tickets to youth and upcoming leaders keeping in mind the party’s campaign for change.

Mana Party-PRP marriage on rocks

Posted by chiru On May - 6 - 2009

mana_658621795

The month-long relationship between Mana Party and the Praja Rajyam seems to be on the rocks.

The PRP feels badly let down, with president Chiranjeevi stating during the constituency-wise analysis exercise that the Mana Party had taken the elections lightly, a charge echoed by vice-president Devender Goud in a press conference.

That Mana Party president Kasani Gnaneswar has not been seen at PRP dos is an indicator of the fraught relationship between the two parties. He has not been spotted at either the PRP office or at Chiranjeevi’s residence since the end of polling on April 23. In fact, Gnaneswar last appeared with the actor-turned-politician in Tirupati, when the latter was campaigning there.

The Praja Rajyam had entered into an alliance with the Mana Party just two weeks before the first phase poll and allotted it two parliamentary and 8 Assembly constituencies.

Differences cropped up between the two parties, with Rangareddy and Mahaboobnagar district bitterly complaining to Chiranjeevi in their respective poll performance meetings that the Mana Party candidates had been utterly lackadaisical.

The Rangareddy district leaders said that Gnaneswar, a candidate from the Chevella Lok Sabha Parliamentary constituency, had been seen campaigning just once or twice. They went so far as to allege that Mana Party candidates who got tickets under the agreement with Praja Rajyam had sold out to either the Congress or the Telugu Desam.

Chiranjeevi has been understandably perturbed at these reports. Gnaneswar has not been invited to programs held since the polls, nor has Chiranjeevi had any discussion with him.

Though so far no announcement has publicly been made on a parting of the ways, the PRP will slowly but surely sideline it, and not enter into any understanding with it in local body elections.

Dasari again attacks Chiru indirectly?

Posted by chiru On February - 16 - 2009

Dr.Dasari Narayana Rao once again cracking jokes on Chiranjeevi’s social justice episode has once again invoked the internal controversy between Dasari and Chiru. On Saturday in Hyderabad Nandi Awards were distributed on this eve Dasari stated that taking this award is something really feels good. N T R having entered into politics is the reason behind him not getting Bharata Ratna Award, diplomatically he stated that Congress leaders are standing out to be as obstacles.

With these statements people got confused so as to is he a Congress man or T D P man. At last, major travel operator Kesineni Nani on Monday resigned from Praja Rajyam Party, even before he was expelled from the party for his letter to party president Chiranjeevi, making pungent comments.

The first thing Nani did after resigning was to go to TV channels to participate in live shows, where he made much stronger remarks against Chiranjeevi. “He is a great actor, not only in films, but also in real life. He knows everything about what was going on PRP in Vijayawada. Yet, he remained silent, only to protect the interests of his own community people,” Nani alleged.

Nani’s exist will repolarise voters in Krishna district. As expected, he may join the Telugu Desam party and with him, a section of Kamma community might tilt towards TD. This will not help Chiranjeevi and he has to focus on how to keep his flock together in the coastal Andhra, because Nani resignation might have spill-over effect in neighbouring districts, too.
