Which way Chiru would go – TDP or Cong?

Posted by chiru On April - 25 - 2009

Now that it is more or less certain that megastar and Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi will not come to power, but would emerge as a deciding factor for the next government, the question that is doing rounds is which way he would go – the Congress or the Telugu Desam Party?

Normally, it is believed that the PRP has the backing of Kapus and they would never support the TDP, backed by their traditional rivals, Kammas. And since Kapus hitherto had been part of the Congress vote bank, they would prefer Chiranjeevi to support the Congress in the event of a hung Assembly.

There is a different argument by some other PRP leaders. According to them, the Left parties would play an important role in mediating between the TDP and the PRP. If the Congress does not get the majority, it amounts to people rejecting the YSR government and therefore, people would not appreciate a PRP-Congress nexus. Secondly, YSR has the capabilities of splitting the PRP strength, as he had done in the case of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. Compared to YSR, the TDP president is a safe bet, they say.

However, Chiranjeevi can consider supporting the Congress, provided YSR is not their chief ministerial candidate. Will that happen?

Prajarajyam will get 180 seats -Chiranjeevi

Posted by chiru On April - 25 - 2009

engine-260

Chiranjeevi in an interview to a leading telugu TV channel revealed that he expected to get 95 to 105 seats in the second phase. When you add 75 seats expected in the first phase, Prajarajyam will get a minimum of 180 seats and a majority of seats in the assembly. The public displayed opposition to congress and lack of credibility to the claims of TDP. He did not reveal who he will support at Delhi and Hyd in a hung situation. He assured that he will go after looters of public money and currupt officials after assuming power. TDP leader Chandrababu expressed confidence that Mahakootami will get more than 200 seats. Chiranjeevi said Chandrababu is just creating hype as he did in 2004 and as happened in 2004 Chandrababu will get less seats in 2009 also.

Chiranjeevi Says : Vote for Rail Engine

Posted by chiru On April - 2 - 2009

chirutrain1238334958

Finally Praja Rajyam won half the battle. Mr. Allu Aravind was signaling the Rail Engine symbol even before the formation of the party. With a great fight they got the election symbol which they were looking for. We should attribute this victory to the Indian Judiciary and the democratic values we adhere to.

Praja Rajyam Party has been allotted ‘Rail Engine’ and Lok Satta Party ‘whistle’ as common symbols for all their constituencies following instructions issued by the Election Commission on Monday in compliance of the orders of the Supreme Court.

Chief Electoral Officer I. V. Subba Rao told reporters that the ‘‘Rail Engine’ and ‘whistle’ would now be removed from the list of free symbols and stand reserved for the PRP and the Lok Satta respectively.

Now that party affiliation of the candidates was indicated in ‘B’ forms, the allotments of the common symbols to the candidates of the Praja Rajyam and the Lok Satta would be made by 3 p.m. on April 2, the deadline for withdrawal of nominations in the first phase of the elections.

The CEO said the allotments to PRP and Lok Satta was an interim arrangement for the present elections.

By bagging the Rail Engine as the common symbol Praja Rajyam has won half the battle and it also shows how stars are behind Chiranjeevi. He was in his interviews was reiterating his confidence in getting the Rail Engine as his party symbol.

Vote for Rail Engine….. Vote for Praja Rajyam…

Chiru faces factionism in PRP

Posted by chiru On March - 30 - 2009

chirutrain1238334958

Perhaps, for the first time, Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi had the taste of factionism in Rayalaseema.

The way PRP’s Anantapur candidate T J Prakash’s car was blown up with bombs by his rivals must have sent shockwaves in the party camp, especially in Chiranjeevi. Though he harped on eradication of bomb culture in Rayalaseema, this incident happened right under his nose, would have taught him a lesson: that he cannot ignore faction leaders while giving tickets.

There are already a few faction leaders in the PRP. And in future, there is no guarantee that they would make a mess of the party in faction-ridden Rayalaseema. You have entered the field, Chiru! Be prepared for everything!!

The Bahujana Samajwadi Party (Ambedkar-Phule) submitted a memorandum to Chief Electoral Officer I. V. Subba Rao here on Saturday contesting allotment of ‘rail engine’ symbol to the Praja Rajyam.

Nalla Surya Prakash, its president, said the EC had allotted the ‘rail engine’ as the common symbol to its candidates during the Assembly by-election in May 2008. He demanded that the symbol be allotted to his party.

Meanwhile, leaders of the 37 registered parties in the State made a beeline to the CEO seeking a common symbol for its candidates citing the Supreme Court directive.

The CEO said he would place all their pleas to the EC
