The past few months have seen some of the biggest names in the film circuit toiling hard in the sun and now the time has come for them to call it a day.

We are talking about Megastar Chiranjeevi, Power star Pawan Kalyan, Yuvaratna Nandamuri Balakrishna, and many other film related persons who have been working hard to canvass for their respective political parties.

There will be a relaxation on the canvassing front before the second phase of polling will take place on the 23rd of this month.

It must be said that, out of the entire film lot, Balayya and Pawan have toiled real hard for their parties and they have worked industriously travelling through all possible areas to speak to the people and urge them to vote. Way to go both!!!

When it comes to movies and politics in Andhra Pradesh, the nexus between them seems to be quite strong. A perfect example for that is the Nandamuri family that has got many movie stars and at the same time, some good number of politicians too. Now, here is one more name that is going to movies from political background.

His name is Nara Rohit and he is the son of Rammurthy Naidu, brother of Chandrababu Naidu. Rohit will be seen as a hero in a new venture under the Vyjayanthi movies banner, belonging to the famous Aswini Dutt banner. It is heard that the movie will begin post elections.

While the other details like cast and crew are still being worked out, this will be a key one for Rohit to prove his mettle. In side news said that Tamanna may pair up with Nara Rohit. With big names like Balakrishna, Jr NTR already in the fray, it is more of a challenge for Rohit to make his mark amongst his family and also in the film fraternity.

Balaiah promises Rs 500 cr package

Posted by chiru On April - 15 - 2009

balakrishna
JAGITYAL: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) star campaigner Nandamuri Balakrishna has assured that, if voted to power, a Rs 500 crore special package would be given to the powerloom weavers.
Addressing meetings in Sircilla and Jagityal, he called upon the voters to dethrone the `corrupt’ Congress.
Referring to the PRP slogan of social justice, he said that it was the TDP which ensured social justice to the weaker sections right from its inception. He alleged that the Congress leaders had pocketed huge commissions under various projects. The actor-turned politician said that the Congress failed to fulfill the promises it made during the 2004 elections.
He said that the problems of beedi workers continued to be unresolved. He said that even after separate Telangana was carved the States of Andhra and Telangana would live in harmony.
Balaiah enthused the mammoth gathering by slapping his thigh and delivering dialogues from his popular films. He said that he came here as the son of Bobbili Puli.
Earlier, he paid respects to the Telangana martyrs. He said that he was very happy to come to the native place of late prime minister PV Narasimha Rao, writer C Narayana Reddy and other prominent artistes.
TRS Nizamabad constituency candidate Ganesh Gupta, TDP Jagityal Assembly candidate L Ramana and Sircilla Assembly candidate K Rama Rao were among those present.

Balayya’s fans work for victory of PR candidate!

Posted by chiru On April - 13 - 2009

Elections this time may have turned out to be a battle between two noted film families – one led by Chiranjeevi and the other Nandamuri family represented by < strong> NTR Jr. and Balakrishna.

But Srikakulam Assembly segment presents an altogether different picture where die-hard Balakrishna fans are working overtime for the victory of K. Nagarjuna alias Pratap of the Praja Rajyam (PR), while Mr. Chiranjeevi’s fans are keeping a distance. Mr. Pratap takes on Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao and senior TDP leader G. Appala Suryanarayana.

A realtor in town, Mr. Pratap is a Balakrishna fan, known for organising functions marking the release of every new film of his favourite star. His good work in conducting blood donation camps and other social events paid off when he secured ticket on behalf of the PR.

This however came as a jolt to Mr. Chiranjeevi’s fans in town. Peeved that a fan of the megastar was not given the ticket, a majority of them are keeping themselves away from the campaign. The news of Mr. Pratap’s selection as PR’s nominee has become a matter to rejoice for fans of Mr. Balakrishna who are happy that one of their associates had managed to secure a ticket, considered a difficult task.

Mr. Pratap’s supporters, however, make light of the differences claiming that all the youth are working for the victory of the PR. “He is known more as a man working for social cause than as Mr. Balakrishna’s fan,” says S. Ramesh, campaign agent of Mr. Pratap. With stalwarts from two major parties in the fray, Mr. Pratap is convincing voters to cast their ballot for the PR, for ‘change’, as his supporters are keeping their fingers crossed over his prospects in the face of the opposition they are facing from within.

Balayya accuses sister of betraying NTR’s faith

Posted by chiru On April - 13 - 2009

Star campaigner for Telugu Desam Party N. Balakrishna on Sunday described as most unfortunate his sister and Union Minister Daggubati Purandeswari’s decision to associate with the Congress.

“I am very pained and hurt to campaign here where Ms. Purandeswari is pitted by the Congress against TDP’s M.V.V.S. Murthi. Though I love her a lot as a brother, her decision to join the Congress against which our father late N.T. Rama Rao had taken up cudgels by forming TDP in 1982 and bringing it to power in a record nine months,” he said during a roadshow at Jagadamba junction.

A few hundred fans and party supporters waited to listen to his speech. Owing to thin crowd, he had to stretch his speech so as to enable people who emerged out of nearby theatres after watching morning show to gather at the venue.

Mr. Balakrishna appealed to the people at roadshows held at Arilova, MVP Colony, Shivajipalem, NAD Kotha Road and other places in the city that TDP should be given a chance to strengthen the hands of party president N. Chandrababu Naidu, who brought name and fame for Andhra Pradesh during his nine-year rule.

‘Jalayagnam’ flayed
Accusing Congress of indulging in a ‘flood of corruption,’ he said Mr. Naidu, when he was the Chief Minister, used to take up one project after the other.

“Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was different and had launched several irrigation projects under Jalayagnam just to get huge kickbacks from the contractors,” he alleged.

Launching a scathing attack on actor Chiranjeevi, he wondered what change the fledgling Praja Rajyam Party would bring about with the party enrolling several political turncoats.

Those who left the party accuse PRP of lacking commitment to social justice, he pointed out and mentioned how the poor would be benefited due to schemes like cash transfer pledged by Mr. Naidu.

Balakrishna claims 175 seats for Telugu Desam

Posted by chiru On April - 10 - 2009

balakrishna01
Nandamuri hero, Balakrishna, had claimed that the Telugu Desam would win over 175 Assembly seats and would be able to form government on its own, without seeking help from the TRS and the Left. Balakrishna spoke at road shows at Bobbili in Vizianagaram district on Thursday.

A few weeks ago, party senior leader and TD campaign committee coordinator, Kambhampati Ramamohana Rao, too had made a similar claim. The TD leaders are confident of winning enough number of seats to form the government either in coalition or with the support from the Grand Alliance partners.

Balakrishna, like the young hero, NTR Junior, also assured of working for implementation of the welfare programmes promised by the TD in its election manifesto. He stood guarantee for the implementation of the programmes and reiterated that he would ensure that the party implemented all welfare programmes promised in the manifesto.

He claimed that the TD was the first political party in the State to have implemented the welfare programmes and social justice in the State. The other parties were now trying to cash in on by speaking about social justice, he said.

The Nandamuri hero came down heavily on the Congress government in the State and alleged that the Congress leaders have looted the State exchequer. He appealed to the people to throw the Congress out of power.

Giving a break from the political speech, Balakrishna recalled his association with Bobbili and said he had visited the place twice for his film shootings.

This is the hot sensation happened today. Balayya has shown his anger on Jr NTR. The ins and outs of the incident are like this:

Chiranjeevi met Jr NTR to extend his sympathy on the accident he was met. But that meeting continued for 30 minutes giving vent for different doubts. Since the meeting was private no one understood what had been shared between the two. Knowing this incident, Balayya went to meet Jr NTR in hurry after Chiru left him.

No one knows what happened between Jr NTR and Balayya. But Balayya came out with red eyes filled with anger. When news reporter approached him with mike and camera, he pulled the mike and thrown it away. With furious eyes he rushed into his car and left. What could be the talk between Jr NTR and Balayya? KADAPA: Film actors N. Balakrishna and K. Chiranjeevi will stage road shows and leave, but Congress will go ahead to win the elections and continue welfare programmes, Congress candidate for Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy asserted on Saturday.

The film actors will not make any impact on the Congress prospects, Mr. Reddy said in his road show at Polavaram. The State witnessed rapid development only after the son of the Kadapa soil Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy became Chief Minister, he stated.

No PM Candidate Now, Says Naidu

Posted by chiru On April - 3 - 2009

Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday refused to be dragged into the debate on who would be the Prime Ministerial candidate of the Third Front, if it comes to power at the Centre.

There has been a controversy over the Third Front’s PM candidate. Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati wanted her name to be proposed for that, while AIADMK president Jayalalithaa said anybody could aspire for the PM post.

Naidu, however, said he was not interested in that post. “I had rejected the post twice in the past and I will do it for the third time,” he said.

Asked who he would propose as the prime ministerial candidate of the Third Front, Naidu said in a coalition government, there was nothing like somebody proposing and another seconding. “It will be decided through a process of consensus,” he said.
