Also, in what is the first step, keeping the impending elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in mind, the party named Kattela Srinivas Yadav as convener of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation unit of the party.
Mr. Yadav is currently joint convenor of the party, he was also an aspirant for the Sanathnagar Assembly ticket.
The zonal convenors have been asked to come up with 10 names of leaders to be taken on board, as members of the zonal committees before July 10, while the 5-member division committees for the 150 divisions in the GHMC will be finalised by July 18. After final scrutiny, Mr. Chiranjeevi will finalise the GHMC committee by July 20, he said. Drawing inputs from them, the three-member committee would compile lists of leaders to take the party forward in its endeavour to strengthen its infrastructure down to the mandal-level.
The list would then be forwarded to the party president, after which fresh district committees were expected to be constituted.
Mr. Ramachandraiah said five zonal convenors too were named. They are: Mekala Sarangapani (North), Md. Feroz Khan (South), Sama Ranga Reddy (East), Govind Ashok (Central) and Madaram Narsinga Rao (West). Each zone will have five-member committees, including the convener.
Can any one imagine PRP without Chiru?

Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi, at times, turns philosophical, while putting up a brave front on the party’s survival in some other times.
Reacting to the resignation of Dr P Mitra from the party, Chiranjeevi said there was no loss to the party, even if Mitra resigned. “He has done it for his personal reasons. It does not affect the party. Tomorrow, I may not be there in the party, but it will continue to exist,” he said.
It is not known whether he really wants to step out of the party or said it in a casual manner, but it shows the sorry state of affairs in the PRP. What will be the morale of the party leaders, if the president himself speaks so philosophically?

He is enjoying Megastar image?

Chiranjeevi has made up his mind not to get into movies again but still he is enjoying image of Megastar amongst people, It was proved once again during his Tirupati visit in the last couple of days. He still has a huge fan following and the people came on to streets to see their hero and present MLA. Had he been a normal MLA, there would not have been so many crowds on the streets just to see him and shake hands with him. It appeared as if they were watching only a film hero in him, rather than an MLA. He will, no doubt, get a similar reception everywhere in the state; even in a remote village.
‘Rail engine’ derailed PRP prospects:chiranjeevi

TIRUPATI: Praja Rajyam (PR) president and Tirupati MLA Chiranjeevi on Thursday conceded that the party’s ‘rail engine’ symbol was too confusing and possibly ruined the winning chances of its candidates in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
Participating in a ‘meet the press’ programme organised at the Press Club here, he said another factor which impacted the winning chances of the party was the alleged political contrivances behind fielding independents with symbols like tractor, bulldozer, bread etc. These symbols resembled the PR’s rail engine and confused ordinary voters, he said.
Mr. Chiranjeevi said the PR would take up with the Election Commission to allot it this time a ‘small and clear’ symbol. “We 100 per cent want to change the symbol,” he said.
To a question he denied that his brothers – Naga Babu and Pavan Kalyan — were sidelined in the party affairs. He said, they were not in active politics and as fulltime actors they had their own professions. Another reason he cited was to steer clear of criticism that he was encouraging nepotism in the party
On the stand-off between DGP S.S.P. Yadav and Chief Electoral Officer I.V. Subba Rao, Mr. Chiranjeevi felt the DGP was perhaps stretching the issue ‘too far’.
On alliances
On the possibilities of the PR having a truck with like-minded parties in the ensuing GHMC and local body elections, Mr. Chiranjeevi said it was too early to take any decision. .
Chiranjeevi to meet defeated PRP nominees

Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi will meet the party candidates who lost in the Assembly elections in the next two weeks. The meetings will commence on June 15 here and will continue up to 26.
In a press release, the party leaders said on June 15 Chiranjeevi would meet candidates of Adilabad, Anantapur and Srikakulam districts and on 16, those from Nizamabad, Kurnool and Vizianagaram districts. He would meet the candidates of Karimnagar, Kadapa and Visakhapatnam districts on 20, those from Khammam, Chittoor and East Godavari districts on 22 and the candidates from Mahaboobnagar, Nellore and West Godavari districts on 23. On June 24, Chiranjeevi would meet candidates of Nalgonda, Prakasam and Krishna districts.
On 25 and 26 he would interact with the nominees of Medak, Guntur and Warangal districts and Rangareddy and Hyderabad respectively. The PRP president would discuss the issues related to the party organisation and on the preparations for the local body elections.
PRP wants sub quota
Meanwhile, the PRP has decided to demand sub quota for BCs, SCs and STs in the women’s reservation bill to be tabled in Parliament soon. The party discussed the issue at a meeting presided over by Chiranjeevi and felt that unless BCs, SCs and STs were given sub quota in the reservation for women, the objective of the bill would not be achieved.
It appears that the party had decided to follow the line taken by the Samajwadi
Party with which it wanted to form a fourth front at the Centre.
