All India Radio and Doordarshan : A national service planned, developed and operated by the Prasar Bharati Broadcasting Corporation of India

Sound broadcasting started in India in 1927 with the proliferation of private radio clubs. The operations of All India Radio began formally in 1936, as a government organisation, with clear objectives to inform, educate and entertain the masses. AIR today has a network of 232 broadcasting centres with 149 medium frequency(MW), 54 high frequency (SW) and 171 FM transmitters. The coverage is 91.79% of the area , serving 99.14% of the people in the largest democracy of the world. AIR covers 24 Languages and 146 dialects in home services. In Externel services, it covers 27 languages; 17 national and 10 foreign languages.

All India Radio and Doordarshan require 128 Engineering Assistants for Radio Stations/Doordarshan Kendras/LPTV Relay Centres etc. in the network.

Engineering Assistants :

Scale of Pay: Rs.9300–Rs.34800/

Qualification : Three years Diploma in Radio/Telecommunication/Electrical/Electronics/Information Technology/Electrical Communication Engineering recognised by Government of India.
OR
Degree with Physics as one of the subjects from a recognised University.
OR
Degree in Engineering in the relevant field (as mentioned above for Diploma) from a recognised University
OR
Diploma in Sound recording and Sound Engineering awarded by Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.

MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS – ON CONTRACT BASIS:

AGE: Candidates should be aged 28 years or less as on 01.06.2010.

QUALIFICATION: (i) Mechanical: BE/B-TECH (Mechanical)

Desirable Experience:
1. MECHANICAL: Six months experience in the fields as indicated below:
a. Knowledge of Computer Aided Design of mechanical components
b. Working knowledge of drafting package –AutoCAD 2004 /2008 or above
c. Working knowledge of Mechanical modeling software such as Pro/Engineer
wildfire/Ideas
2. ELECTRICAL: Six months experience in the fields as indicated below:
a. Understanding of electrical circuits- power and control
b. Understanding of electrical SLD
c. Theoretical knowledge on design of electrical power and control circuits
d. Selection of cables and wires depending upon load and voltage drop

True Blood ( wiki ) is an American television drama series created and produced by Alan Ball. It is based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries series of novels by Charlaine Harris, and details the co-existence of vampires and humans in Bon Temps, a fictional small Louisiana town. Saina Nehwal ( wiki ) is an Indian badminton player. Currently ranked number 3 in the world by Badminton World Federation, Saina is the first Indian girl to reach the singles quarterfinals at the Olympics and the first Indian to win the World Junior Badminton Championships. Saina Nehwal made history on June 21, 2009, becoming the first Indian to win a Super Series tournament, by clinching the Indonesia Open with a stunning victory over higher-ranked Chinese Lin Wang in Jakarta. (The Super Series tournament is roughly equivalent to a Grand Slam in tennis.)

Saina won her second career Super Series title by winning the Singapore Open title on June 20, 2010. She completed a hat-trick in the same year by winning the Indonesian Open on June 27, 2010. This win resulted in her rise to 3rd ranking. This remains her highest career ranking.

Previously coached by S. M. Arif, a Dronacharya Award winner, Saina is the reigning Indian national junior champion and is currently coached by Indonesian badminton legend Atik Jauhari since August 2008, with the former All England champion and national coach Pullela Gopichand being her mentor.

A Common Entrance Test, designated as Education Common Entrance Test-2010 (Ed.CET-2010) was conducted by the CONVENER, Ed.CET-2010, Department of Education,IASE, Osmania University, Hyderabad – 500 007 on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education for admission into B.Ed. Regular Course in the Colleges of Education in Andhra Pradesh for the academic year 2010-2011.

Education Common Entrance Test (EdCET 2010) was conducted on June 13th by Osmania University.Its results have been released recently.

Officials have decided to conduct web-based counselling for B.Ed admissions this year and the counselling will begin from august 2nd 2010.

Candidates should bring hall ticket, rank card and all original certificates (marks memo, study certificate, income certificate, etc.,) necessary for admissions.

A processing fee of Rs. 400 (Rs.200 for SC / ST candidates) should be paid at the time of certificate verification.

Course fee varies from Rs. 2700 to Rs. 13,500 and for Private Unaided colleges is Rs. 13500 (along with a special fee of Rs. 3000)

In Mumbai, schools and colleges remained closed today; the streets of the city were deserted.

Domestic flights were hit hard: 42 arrivals and 47 departures were cancelled. One international flight -Air India’s Mumbai-Delhi-Hong Kong- was cancelled.

Local trains are running on time, but are largely empty.

78 buses have been damaged. Taxis and autos are not available for commuters.

Over 1000 people were held as preventive measure in Mumbai. The BJP and Left parties plan to go all out to enforce the nation-wide protest against the fuel price hike, though the government has firmly ruled out any roll-back and slammed the strike as unjustified.

Authorities prepared to take all security measures to ensure there was no untoward incident during the strike, as the Opposition parties tried to make common cause in cornering the government as a build-up to a showdown during the coming monsoon session of Parliament.

Normal life is likely to be affected though Emergency services will not be disrupted. Essential services like milk, water, hospitals are exempt from participation in the bandh.
