When Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan said ‘Mumbai belongs to all Indians’, he received flak from the Shiv Sena. Industrialist Mukesh Ambani and cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar were meted with the same treatment for their statement that ‘Mumbai is for all Indians’.
Playback singer Asha Bhonsle believes that Mumbai belongs to all. And when she said this, Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS) Raj Thackeray was listening from the audience.
Speaking at ‘Swar–Asha’ an event organized by a Marathi channel, the legendary Bollywood singer said, “Mumbai belongs to all.” And continued further by saying, “I sing in Hindi and am learning Marathi.”
The remark came after Raj Thackery said, “Asha Bhosale has sung many songs in different languages. People in different parts of India accept these songs as their own. This happened only because she is Marathi.”
Raj Thackeray didn’t react to her statement so did MNS spokesperson Shrish Parkar, who said that he had nothing to say on the statement, it is completely contrast to MNS ideology. It may be mentioned that Asha is close to both Raj and his uncle Bal Thackeray, chief of Shiv Sena.
