Kajal is the sensation in Tollywood right now. The promotion of Magadheera is going on in big way on MAA Channel. The songs, scenes and the promos are hitting the small screen very frequently. It is known that Ram Charan’s get up and dance from the promos of this film get huge applause.
Along with this, heroine Kajal is also getting huge following from general crowds by her grace and expressive beauty. Many say that she would rock if this film goes successful.
Looking at the promos many are saying that the film would be a damn sure success. Family audiences, youth and ladies are showing huge interest to watch this film as soon as it releases. This positive feel is enough to get thumping openings for this film. And the mistake that Ram Charan did with his first film is avoided this time in the matter of heroine. Many have given negative feedback for Neha Sharma in Chirutha. But now Kajal is being given wonderful feedback.

Who is copying whose song (or a portion of it) / tune ?
The line in question is ‘Yem pillado yeldha mosthava…’. Who has authored it ? Certainly not Vangapandu ! He himself says that he has written it in 1972. I remember humming the song in our villages in Prakasam District in late 50s onwards. This particular song which runs ‘YEM PILLO YELDHA MOSTHAVAA’, is sung by folklore during celebrations/festivals in nearby towns(called Tirunalla/santha) Vangapandu has picked up these lines along with the tune from folklore which were highly popular by that time and created a similar song to propagate his ideology. But he has uplifted the beginning lines(pallavi)and the tune as it is..This being the case, how can he claims authorship over such songs/tunes ?
Like manasaa, chalmohan ranga, dingari, hailesa….songs which were extreemly popular are used by the leaders of the people’s movements to spread their ideology powerfully to the rural masses. Even Kosaraju used many such songs, tunes in old Telugu movies.
I regret very much for a poet like Vangapandu claiming a right over a line/tune which is not his own. Till now I have the highest regard for him like I used to have on others like Gaddar, Goreti etc.,
What is really intriguing is……Vangapandu is demanding compensation.
Even most of the journalists, to sympathize the people’s poet, are taking sides, deliberately ignoring the issue.(like Allam Narayana’s column in AJ today). The issue is -who has the right over the song or few lines and tunes whose creation is unknown and widely popular among the rural masses. Just because Vangapandu used those lines and added some more and that song is popular for a few decades, does not sanction him the rights.
If vangapandu has the right to copy some songs, lines or tunes and use it for his purpose, why not others. In such a scenario, how can anybody question the person on the usage of it, even if it is used in vulgar songs/devotional songs.
Why the media instead of finding out the original author, makes a hue and cry over it and unnecessarily give advantage to Vangapandu.
I request the intellectuals and the media to open a debate at least now by calling for a research on such folklore songs/tunes (kudos to Vinjamuri-AIR employee for doing such excellent work earlier) which has been our priceless treasure for long and put a halt to such cheap tricks.
