There is a strong rumour within Praja Rajyam Party that its president Chiranjeevi is fast losing interest in politics.
The rumours have emanated from the fact that Chiranjeevi is hardly coming to the party office these days and is operating from home; and most of the seniors like Ch Harirama Jogaiah, P Upendra, K S R Murthy, Kotagiri Vidyadhara Rao, T Devender Goud, T Seetharam and others are also not regularly coming to the party office.
Even Chiranjeevi’s brother-in-law Allu Aravind has gone on a holiday, while his brothers Nagababu and Pavan Kalyan have stopped coming to the party office long ago. The party workers who are coming there regularly are disappointed to note that there are no leaders there and there is none to take care of the office management.
Because of all these factors, Chiranjeevi is said to be feeling lonely. He is asking his party MLAs to come to him regularly and discuss with him the future course of action. Party leaders say Chiranjeevi is busy in taking lessons from experts on various subjects of public importance so that he can present them properly during the debates in the assembly. He is also acquiring knowledge on Assembly proceedings, such as what is question hour, what is zero hour, what is Rule 304 etc. But the fact is that Chiranjeevi is not a good learner and is said to be getting bored of all these activities.
The PRP president is not getting proper advice as to how build up the party at all levels and react on key issues like, for instance, ban on Maoists. For building up the party from grassroot level, the PRP needs a lot of money; but most of the leaders have already thrown up their hands as they don’t see any future in the PRP; and are therefore looking for greener pastures.
Therefore, this is crucial time for Chiranjeevi. He has to really show his grit and dedication towards servicing the people; he needs to command his forces. Instead of confining himself to four walls and issuing statements like congratulating Saina Nehwal, he has to begin extensive tour of the villages, understand the problems of people and identity himself with them. The cadre builds up automatically.
Otherwise, it does not take much time for the party to disintegrate right under his nose!
