In yet another step towards making friendship with the Congress party, Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi on Friday declared that his party would not field a candidate against the Congress party in Tekkali byelections, which would be held following the death of sitting MLA Revathipathi.
“If the Congress decides to give ticket to widow of Revathipathi in the byelections, we will not contest the elections on humanitarian grounds. We will support the Congress candidate,” he said. Interestingly, Chiranjeevi has made the statement voluntarily before the Chief Minister made any such request. The Telugu Desam Party, too, did not make any such statement, but Chiranjeevi displayed his “over courteous” attitude, only to the delight of Chiranjeevi!
