Ram Charan Teja and Allu Arjun, son and nephew of Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi, too drew crowds. The Khammam railway station was thronged by thousands of the fans as the ‘Praja Rail Yatra’ came here two hours behind the schedule.
‘Future of State’
The police had a tough time controlling the crowds that occupied the platforms in the station as well as the rail lines up to a km.
As the stars came out of the train holding aloft a toy rail engine – the election symbol of the party – the crowds greeted them with laud applause. They appealed for electing the right candidates in the election and the PRP was the future of the State. “The rail engine moves forward, taking you all together,” they said.
PRP nominees Jalagam Hemamalini (Khammam Parliamentary constituency), E. Haribabu ( Khammam Assembly constituency), Rayala Nageswar Rao (Palair) thanked the duo for the campaign. The ‘Praja Rail’, which was flagged off by Mr. Chiranjeevi at Secunderabad railway station, was greeted by large crowds at Madhira railway station in the district.
Youth, in a bid to stop the train at Yerrupalem, smashed the window glasses of a compartment.
