He came and he conquered. Praja Rajyam chief K.Chiranjeevi descended on Sarvarareddypally Thanda of Vangoor mandal in Achempet Assembly segment on Monday afternoon and stole the hearts of hundreds of Lambada tribals. He tasted their hot green curry and jowar roti even as water rolled down his eyes. He drank the water served in their aluminium ‘lota’. He danced to the beats of drums with the Lambadas. Mr. Chiranjeevi, on the last day of his road shows in the district, visited the thanda, which is 500 metres away from the Hyderabad–Srisailam highway devoid of even basic necessities. As the PR president, along with his convoy, entered the hut of poor Nanavath Nariya, he and his old father Ramji could not recognise him and stared at the unexpected guest. PR workers of the mandal introduced the guest to them. He asked them about their living conditions and they poured out their woes: they did not get a house under Indiramma, they were not beneficiaries of one-bulb free power and they owned dry land. Ironically, the thanda is the stronghold of Congress.
