Megastar and Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi claimed in the past that he was not too much worried about allotment of a common symbol for his party. “Chiranjeevi himself is a symbol. I am enough to get victory for the party,” he said, then.
But the same person is now desperately running around Election Commission and the High Court for a common symbol. He has realised that without a common symbol, it is extremely difficult to give an identity to Praja Rajyam party. In 2004 elections, Telangana Rashtra Samithi could not win the Nagarkurnool parliamentary seat, because its candidate K S Ratnam could not submit the B form in time and hence, was compelled to contest on a different symbol. KCR’s campaign in person also did not help the candidate.
Chiranjeevi’s rivals have already started taking fun of his desperation. “He is a megastar and a symbol by himself. So, where is the need for a common symbol for him? EC’s decision clearly shows that it has not acknowledged PRP as a party to reckon with in the elections. It is just a one-man show,” Telugu Mahila president Roja said.
