It was like tit-for-tat to megastar and Praja Rajyam party president Chiranjeevi, who tried to challenge Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in his native village Pulivendula in Kadapa district a few weeks back.

On Saturday, it was the turn of the Chief Minister to take Mogalturu, Chiranjeevi’s native village in West Godavari district, by storm. He drew huge crowds to his road show. And YSR utilised the opportunity fully to attack Chiranjeevi with harsh words, amidst thunderous applause from the crowds.

“I was told some people from this village went to Chiranjeevi to seek a little financial assistance to construct a high school building. Inspite of making several rounds, they failed to get even a penny from his pocket. Now, that gentleman is on the roads making all sorts of promises with the sole intention of grabbing power. Don’t fall into his trap,” he said.

The Chief Minister also came down heavily on the so-called Maha Kootami leaders for trying to pull down his government. “These Maha Kootamis or Mega Kootamis cannot do anything. The Congress party has the support of Praja Kootami. And I am confident, it will get 15-20 seats more than it had got in 2004,” YSR said.

Chiru Needs To Clean His Eyes and Ears

Shouting lady, Tadi Sakunthala, has rejected the vice-president post for the Mahila Rajyam, in less than 24 hours after her appointment.

Sakunthala, who served as mayor of Vijayawada on CPI ticket, has jumped into the Praja Rajyam Party six months ago. Since then, she has been active in the party and had added the women gatherings (mahila varadhi) of the party in the coastal districts.

Given her family background and her own political experience, she was initially tipped for the post of the president of the PRP women wing. There were only three names that figured for this post and Sakunthala was one of the three. The party considered nominating Sobha Nagi Reddy, Vanga Geetha and Sakunthala for the post. However, the first two names were withdrawn as Sobha wanted to be with the main party. Geetha’s name was dropped as Yuva Rajyam president too belonged to the same community. Having dropped the two names, Chiranjeevi and Allu Aravind almost cleared the candidature of Sakunthala for the top seat.

However, the entry of Vangaveeti Radha Krishna into PRP had changed the equations and it is alleged that Radha prevailed upon Allu Aravind and Pawan Kalyan to drop Sakunthala and look for alternative. It was only then, the party picked up Sobha Rani as Mahila Rajyam president.

While rejecting her nomination as vice-president of Mahila Rajyam, Sakunthala told this correspondent that she had high expectations on Megastar. “Some selfish hands have put up a strong wall around Chiranjeevi, making him blind about what is happening around. Facts about recent developments in Vijayawada did not reach Chiranjeevi. Only distorted version was given to him. Even in my case, there are some people who mislead Chiranjeevi fearing that I would be a threat to them. If the high command fails to get facts from the ground level, it would cause greater damage to the party,” she said.

The PRP leaders allege that Allu Aravind’s viyyankudu and Vangaveeti Radha Krishna have become the eyes and ears for the PRP and decisions go according to their wishes.

Well, the eyes and years are to be clear for any party and any leader to succeed. Is Chiranjeevi ready to clear his ears for a better party?

ANANTAPUR: Tension prevailed at Chilamathur when TDP activists pelted stones on the house of a PRP leader and the party office during Balakrishna’s roadshow in the town on Friday.

The TDP men were venting their ire on Chilamathur former sarpanch Muddu Krishna‘s son K Kumar who has shifted his loyalties from the TDP by joining the PRP. The TDP workers damaged a huge flexiboard of PRP chief Chiranjeevi at the party office and pelted stones on Kumar’s house.

When the activists of two parties were preparing to attack each other, policeand local leaders intervened to control the situation. Two persons were injured during the stone-pelting.

There was trouble at Mandalapalli of Gorantla mandal also when TDP leaders tried to remove Congress hoardings and plant TDP banners leading to tension ahead of Balakrishna’s road show.

Continuing his roadshows, Balaiah attacked the state government’s SEZ policies depriving riots of adequate compensation after acquiring their lands for the SEZ in Chilamathur mandal, located close to Devanahalli airport on the Karnataka border.

Though Balaiah received good response to his roadshows, analysts said it was much less in comparison to what PRP chief Chiranjeevi drew during his roadshows in Anantapur. Balaiah stayed at Paritala Ravindra’s residence in Venkatapuram village in Ramagiri mandal after completion of his Friday’s roadshows.

Censor Shobha to be PRP Mahila chief

At last, Praja Rajyam party has appointed its Mahila wing just at a time when there were nobody to counter the criticism from women leaders of other parties against Chiranjeevi and his party.

Former Censor Board member Shobha Rani would be the convenor of the PRP Mahila wing, which will be called “Mahila Rajyam.” Known for her loud-mouth nature, as can be seen in several live shows on TV channels, Shobha Rani is considered to be the right choice for the post, on the lines of Roja of Telugu Desam and Ganga Bhavani of the Congress.

During her tenure in Censor Board, Shoba allowed several sensuous dances without any cuts. But on TV shows, she used to talk about protection to women. We have to see, how she will tackle the women’s issues as Mahila Rajyam chief.

PRP Chiru Waiting For TRS Joins

Posted by chiru On January - 31 - 2009

prajarajyam-office2010-091
HYDERABAD: As reports about the Telangana Rashtra Samiti almost firming up an electoral alliance with the Telugu Desam and the Left parties gained ground, Praja Rajyam leaders were slightly disappointed, although they tried hard not to show it.

They felt that they had made the TRS a handsome offer and hoped that the latter would agree to a strategic alliance in a day or two. During the seat sharing talks that began a few weeks ago, the PR was understood to have offered the TRS nine Lok Sabha and 55 Assembly seats, which was better than the TDP offer.

Nava Telangana Party (NTP) president T. Devender Goud and senior NTP leader E. Peddi Reddy, who also participated in these talks, made a determined bid to convince the TRS to join what is now being referred to as the ‘mega alliance’ spearheaded by the PR.

The PR and the NTP kept denying that they were desperate in their bid to get the TRS out of the Left/TDP alliance. There were hectic parleys and late night meetings in the past three days with PR president K. Chiranjeevi and general secretary Allu Aravind, and with Mr. Goud and Mr. Peddi Reddy. It is reliably learnt that an industrialist, Mr. M. Prasad, represented TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao at the meetings.

Even around 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon, Mr. Chiranjeevi expressed confidence that Mr. Rao would see reason and throw in his lot with the PR-led alliance.

Expressing similar feelings, the NTP leaders continued to say that the so-called ‘grand alliance’ wasn’t really about the TDP leading it but about the stand taken by the CPI (M). They pointed out that CPI (M) Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury had reiterated his party’s stand recently that it was in favour of only linguistic States.

‘Not perturbed’
At a press conference, PR general secretary Sobha Nagi Reddy, in reply to a query said that the PR was not perturbed by these developments. “Even if the TRS does not join hands with us, we have the confidence that people would be with us,” she said.

CM YSR Attacks Chiru in Mogalthur

HYDERABAD: Two months after Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi undertook a whirlwind tour of Kadapa district beginning from Pulivendula, it is now the turn of Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy to launch his road show from Mogalturu, the native village of the actor on Saturday. During his two-day tour of West Godavari district from Saturday to participate in a series of government functions, Dr. Reddy has decided to target the actor-turned-politician by launching his road show from Mogalturu. Though, the Congress circles were keen that Dr. Reddy conduct a road show in the actor’s native village more than two months ago, it could not materialise due to ban on such shows by the AP High court. Congress leaders want to make most out of the Chief Minister’s visit to Mogalturu village in Narsapur constituency. “The tour is as good as launching the election campaign from rival leader’s native village,” a Congress legislator from West Godavari remarked. Dr. Reddy will reach Mogalturu at 11 a.m. where he would address the first public meeting. Chalking out the Chief Minister’s programme carefully, local leaders have ensured that he will lay foundation stone for new works and address meetings in Sitarampuram, Narasapur, Palacole, Gummuluru, Achanta, Marteru and Penugonda in Narsapur, Palacole and Achanta Assembly segments.

Nandamuri Hero, Balakrishna, had said that he would contest against Chiranjeevi if his Telugu Desam party asked him so. Though he did not say this statement categorically, he only implied so by replaying to a question from a media person during his Hindupur visit the other day.

Now, with the word spreading across the State that he would be ready to take on the Megastar, the fans from both sides are much worried about this challenge. The fans does not want to see such a situation wherein the two heroes would be fighting the poll battle and the fans would have to collide head on leading to clashes.

Balayya Babu said only ‘why not? I will contest if the party directs me’ only as a reply to a question. It was not his statement and his desire to contest against Chiranjeevi. If this happens, as fans we would be in trouble,” said one of the Megastar’s fans from Vijayawada.

The fans of Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna lock horns and even resort to fight often in Krishna district, particularly in Diviseema area. Whenever there was a release of the film by these two heroes and the release clashed with each other, the fans too indulged in clashes over putting up banners and spreading the talk about the movie. If this was the situation for the film release, how would it be if the two fight the poll battle against each other is the big question here.

However, some of the Balakrishna fans are confident that their hero would not invite such a situation wherein the fans have to fight the battle. “That was only a political statement and he did not mean it,” is what Balakrishna fans describe.
