Chiranjeevi Talks about More seats For BCs

Posted by chiru On November - 29 - 2008

Claiming full credit for making Mahatma Jyotirao Phule a household name, Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi on Friday said his party would allot more number of seats to those from the Backward Classes than any other political party in the next elections.

Addressing a largely-attended meeting, he said that the ideals and thoughts of great people like Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi, B.R. Ambedkar and Jyotirao Phule reminded him of his social responsibility.

He went around stalls set up by artisans including potters, weavers, stone-cutters, blacksmiths, goldsmiths. At a stall where tribal women displayed their mirror-worked garments. Recalling that while one political party said it would give 33 per cent of seats to BCs and another said it would earmark 100 seats, Mr. Chiranjeevi said the Praja Rajyam would give the maximum. “A year ago, when I was discussing my political plans with friends, I admit I did not know about Mahatma Phule and the social reformer’s work. I also did not realise that the words — social justice — were an all-encompassing term that included political and economic justice too,” he said.

On his party’s agenda, he said “I do not have to tell people everytime what I will do or how I will go about achieving social justice. I will do it,” he declared.

A delegation of All India Insurance Employees Association on Friday submitted a memorandum to Praja Rajyam party president Chiranjeevi seeking his intervention to stall a legislation proposed by the Centre to increase the limit of Foreign Direct Investment in insurance sector from 26 to 49 per cent.

The employees informed Chiranjeevi that the Bill was likely to be introduced in the ensuing session of Parliament from December 10.

Sobha Nagi Reddy position in Prajarajyam Party

There are clear sings from the Prajarajyam Party top heads on their first head of the women wing.

The Chiranjeevi Prajarajyam Party had finally traced a suitable iron lady to head the PRP women wing and to be a perfect match to the firing Roja of Telugu Desam and big mouth Ganga Bhavani of Congress. She is none other than Sobha Nagi Reddy, who is now playing a key role in the party organizational affairs.

The Prajarajyam Party leaders have first thought of fielding Vijayawada’s former mayor, Tadi Sakunthala, a fire brand, as the party women wing head. Though former Rajya Sabha member, Vanga Geetha was thought to be suitable for the post, the leaders felt that giving the top slot to a Kapu woman would send wrong signals down the line. Hence, they picked up Sakunthala, a BC woman, for the job.

However, the active role played by Sobha Nagi Reddy, particularly during the Congress attack on PRP at Kadapa during Praja Chaitanya Yatra, made her win the race for the top job.

The leaders have sent clear signals to the women activists about Sobha Nagi Reddy tipped for the post. The announcement would come along with the constitution of the State committee, which would take at least two months from now.

The Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi took an U-turn on the issue of poll alliances on Thursday. He expressed his willingness to align with the Telangana Rashtra Samiti if the latter is ready for a pre-poll alliance with the PR. The actor-turned- politician appeared unfazed even after the Left parties’ decided to join hands the Telugu Desam two days ago and said: “We will go all alone in the general elections. It makes no difference whether anybody comes with us or not. We are sure we will repeat history like NTR.”

While replying to a question on whether the PR was ready to join hands with the TRS for a pre-poll alliance in the coming elections, Chiranjeevi said: “We are ready to work with anybody. But, some parties are keeping us aside by thinking that we are small…” He declined to elaborate on his reply. The PR chief also said that the PR did not see any conspiracy behind a TRS worker throwing an egg at him during a road show in Warangal district. Meanwhile, alleging that the PR was not sticking to social justice while appointing committees in the party, MLC Mr G. Haribabu Naidu, resigned from the primary membership of the party on Thursday evening. Mr Haribabu an independent MLC from Srikakulam district.

Chiranjeevi Bhajana batch still running

Posted by chiru On November - 28 - 2008

It is a known fact that megastar Chiranjeevi was the reigning emperor of the Tollywood till the time he took to politics and left the filmdom. But then it appears that Chiru seems to have taken this label far too seriously if reliable sources are to be believed.

Apparently, those who have known Chiru closely say that he was one man who used to enjoy praises and accolades at the end of every evening of his shoot. Colloquially, they are known as the ‘Bhajana batch’ whose job is to heap praises about his mannerisms and actions during his cine career.

Now, there is news that he has been continuing the same tradition even to this day. Some say that since he is a strict follower of Hanuman, even he likes to be motivated from time to time and he has been accompanied by a bunch of those regular followers who are continuing their ‘Bhajan’ with him.

Jogaiah’s position in prp

Posted by chiru On November - 28 - 2008

The “soul-searching” letter written by Mr Ch. Harirama Jogaiah recently to the Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi appears to have ruffled quite a few feathers within the party. Despite Chiranjeevi’s statement that Mr Jogaiah was a fatherly figure to him, the veteran politician is being increasingly sidelined by the party leaders after his letter embarrassed the Praja Rajyam’s top brass.

This became evident on Thursday, when Mr Jogaiah was selected only as one of the 30 members in the Praja Rajyam’s manifesto committee set up by Chiranjeevi. The Praja Rajyam president preferred Mr P. Shiv Shanker and Mr P. Upendra, to Mr Jogaiah, the man behind Chiranjeevi’s political entry, as convenors to the manifesto committee. Mr Shiv Shanker and Mr Upendra were not active in politics for a long time, whereas Mr Jogaiah had left the Congress as an MP to join the Praja Rajyam. Mr K.S.R. Murthy, Mr Parakala Prabhakar and Mr P. Mitra were appointed as co-convenors.

Seasoned politicians Kotagiri Vidyadhar Rao, Tammineni Sitaram, Y. Shivaji, Vanga Geeta, Dalit leader Kanaka Rao Madiga, BC leader Mr V.G.R. Naragoni, Dalit poet Katti Padma Rao, former IPS officer Anjaneya Reddy were among the prominent persons in the 30-member committee. Mr Tota Chandrasekhar, former IAS officer from the Maharashtra cadre, who faced graft charges, are also in the committee. The PR spokesperson Mr Parakala Prabhakar released the PR’s manifesto committee along with Chiranjeevi, on Thursday.

Vangaveeti Santhan Kumar is wait for chiranjeevi

Posted by chiru On November - 28 - 2008

The much-talked about entry of Vangaveeti Santhan Kumar, nephew of late Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga, into Praja Rajyam Party remains a big question on the faces of his followers.

Santhan had put up massive banners in Vijayawada announcing his entry into the PRP and had even set November 23. Having set his eyes on Vijayawada Central Assembly seat, Santhan prepared the ground to cross the fence.

Unfortunately, he is still waiting at the gate of the Praja Rajyam Party in Hyderabad for invitation. He had reportedly sent a word to PRP chief Chiranjeevi and senior leader, Allu Aravind. He also gained some access to the power star and sent a word seeking Chiru’s interview.

However, till date, there is no word from the PRP, making him wait outside. How long he would have to wait at the gate is a big question. The other aspect is that his brother and Congress MLA, Vangaveeti Radha Krishna, who is already sitting on the fence is likely to jump even as Santhan waits outside.
