After the news of Megastar Chiranjeevi coming up with the name for his new political party as ‘Praja Rajyam’ there are many who got into the job of finding out the significance behind this name and how best it fits the vision and agenda of a political outfit.

Here is an interesting piece of information we have gathered, apparently this ‘Praja Rajyam’ was actually coined by the convener of Lok Satta party Dr Jayaprakash Narayan but then it was not a party but then a leadership training program which he used to ensure that the youth in his party get trained on certain managerial skills.

Given the buzz that JP might soon merge himself with the bigger version of his thought about ‘Praja Rajyam’, it remains to be seen whether Megastar Chiranjeevi will be up to the mark of matching up to the ideals and expectations of many visionaries.

He said that the social justice plank will be hollow with out taking a stand on categorisation of SCs reservations. He recalled that several commissions recommended calassification.

He found fault with Chiranjeevi for choosing two forward caste leaders, Dr Mitra and Parakala Prabhakar, as the party’s spokesmen, instead of choosing leaders belonging to the weaker sections.

Hyderabad, In a major relief for Megastar Chiranjeevi, the row over his newly-launched party’s name ‘Praja Rajyam’ was resolved Friday after the advocate who had staked claim to the name agreed to withdraw his application.

Chenna Krishnaiah, an advocate of Kadpa district, met the Election Commission of India officials in New Delhi and agreed to withdraw his application for registration of ‘Praja Rajyam’ made a month ago.

Chiranjeevi’s aides reportedly succeeded in convincing Krishnaiah to withdraw his application and in return promised a key post in the party, sources said here.

Chiranjeevi Tuesday launched his political party ‘Praja Rajyam’ at a mammoth rally at the temple town of Tirupati. However, his close aides and supporters had to face embarrassment when Krishnaiah claimed Thursday that he had already applied to the Election Commission for registration of a party with the same name.

The actor’s camp swung into action to convince Krishnaiah, who had applied for registration in July and was given a month’s time by the Election Commission to complete the formalities.

Chiranjeevi’s aide Vinay Kumar rushed to Delhi to fulfil the legal formalities for the registration after it was pointed out that their application was riddled with errors and had only 88 signatures instead of the mandatory 100.

Vinay Kumar and two other leaders of Chiranjeevi’s party from Kadpa district met Krishaniah in Delhi and they together called on Election Commission officials. It was during this meeting that Krishnaiah is understood to have withdrawn his application.

Party spokesman P. Mitra told newsmen that it had applied for registration and fulfilled the criteria. ‘Our legal department is looking into the issue. We are confident the Election Commission will accept our application,’ he said.

A day before Chiranjeevi’s meeting at Tirupati, Krishnaiah announced that he has registered a party by the name ‘Praja Rajyam’ with the Election Commission in New Delhi on June 14 this year.

Krishnaiah, an advocate from Lakkireddypalli town in Kadapa district and a member of the washermen community, said that he was launching the party to help the downtrodden. His party planned to contest all the Lok Sabha and assembly seats in Kadapa district.

As news of Krishnaiah claiming registration of ‘Praja Rajyam’ spread, Chiranjeevi’s fans mounted pressure on him to withdraw his application to ensure a smooth political debut for the actor.

Excited over their matinee idol’s political debut on Tuesday, fans of Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi went out of control at the site of the public meeting in the temple town leading police to lathicharge on them.

People reached at the meeting place in the morning , people were entertained with three of chiru movies till chiranjeevi came…

Thousands of Chiranjeevi fans, who poured in from all over Andhra Pradesh to listen to their star revealing the name and agenda of his party, swamped into the chamber which was alloted for physically challenged people.

Repeated appeals by Chiranjeevi’s brother and actor Nagendra Babu to maintain calm during the public meeting went unheeded among the jubilant fans. Police resorted to lathicharge to control the crowd.

Here are some of the excerpts of his speech:

* I will always remain your servant. It is a historic moment. A proud moment for Andhra.

* I founded hundreds of blood and eye banks.

* Let’s concentrate on positive things and fight divisive forces.

* God has blessed me. Asked me to do this. I seek your support.

* Happy Andhra Pradesh is my motto. Modernisation and industrialisation will be on my agena.

* My party is of the people, for the people and by the people.

* Social justice is the main agenda of my party.

* I take an oath in the name of Lord Venkateshwara that I will be with you. You don’t need a leader. You need a servant. It is my motive. I want to restore the honour of politics.

* We should be transparent in public life. We should be with the weaker sections. Even after 60 years of freedom, there has not been any improvement.

I don’t know politics. I can’t understand it. But I know the suffering of people.

* I have done all roles in cinema. I have seen the entire world. I don’t want anything more.

* I had just two pairs of trousers in my college.

* I survived in Madras with less than Rs 100 per month. People need a person from such background to lead them. My roles in cinema always represented weaker sections.

* I am from a very humble background. We had just 5 acres of land. My father was a police constable.

* This sound will reverberate across Andhra.

* I know the pulse beat of the Telugu people. I promise a clean and effective movement.

* Youth power is my power. Women will get more attention.

* This sound will reverberate across Andhra.

* I represent weaker sections. Today’s meeting is a historic meeting.

* I am like the brother of all Andhraites. Telugu people made me what I am today.

* I don’t know to how to thank you all. I will never forget your kindness.

* My mother taught me about life. I don’t bother about caste, religion and class.

* My achievement will be your achievement.

* As an actor, I struggled. I am a servant of the people.

* Please bless my movement. You have always blessed me. Mother Theresa has always been my inspiration. I believe in her.

Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi’s bid for Election Commission’s nod for his newly-launched political outfit “Praja Rajyam” appears to have run into trouble as someone else has already sought registration of his party of the same name.

A resident of Cuddapah district in Andhra Pradesh has already filed an application before the Election Commission seeking to register his party in the same name.

EC sources said the Cuddapah resident has filed his application three or four months ago and the EC has also processed his application. The Commission also sent a reply to him.

Sources said the Commission was yet to examine the application of the megastar who moved the Commission on August 26 to register his new political outfit as Praja Rajyam.

“The Commission will take another a week to process the application of Chiranjeevi,” the sources said.

The cine star announced the name of his political party at a mammoth public rally in the temple town of Tirupati.

Chiru Praja Rajyam expert views

Tirupati, Aug. 26: Actor Chiranjeevi on Tuesday announced the name of his political party, Praja Rajyam, amidst thunderous cheers from lakhs of hysteric fans and vowed to change the politics of Andhra Pradesh. Giving full play to histrionics, Chiranjeevi, the son of a police constable, recounted the difficulties he had faced as a child in an emotion-choked voice and charged up the crowd in the temple town with a few interactions before announcing the name of his party with a dramatic countdown.

In fact, Chiranjeevi waited till sundown to announce his party’s name and stretched his speech till then, so that the display on the giant screen behind him and 18 screens located at the ground would be eye-catching. As the name of the party was splashed on the huge screens to the accompaniment of music, the 53-year-old actor got a handicapped person to unfurl a green and white flag with a red sun in the middle.

The roaring crowds surged ahead, breaking barricades and alarming security men, even as Chiranjeevi declared that he was entering politics to ensure social justice and development. Around 40 persons were injured in the melee. “People want me to join politics,” said Chiranjeevi, who earlier entered the stage dramatically with his arms stretched wide. “I am here to restore respect to politics. After spending 30 years in the glamorous world of films, I could have lived a cosy life. But I decided to be in your midst.”

“How blessed are my eyes to see these crowds who love me,” said Chiranjeevi, as people roared in appreciation. “I am overwhelmed by your support. Now it is time for me to give it back.” The actor in Chiranjeevi was in play throughout the speech, which was carefully crafted and touched upon all major issues though giving the appearance of spontaneity. “Mine will be a democratic and secular party, born from the hearts of the people,” he said.

“Its goal will be the contentment and happiness of the state.” Though high on rhetoric, the actor’s speech was devoid of courage or imagination when it came to crucial issues. He said he was not averse to a separate Telangana but added that his first priority would be trying to end the backwardness of the region. He also sought more “brainstorming” to solve the Maoist problem and said the issue of backward status to Kapus should be examined thoroughly.

However, Chirnjeevi vigorously opposed the concept of Special Economic Zones and said land was meant for cultivation. “My top priority would be to make agriculture viable,” he said. “Even a soap manufacturer can decide the price of his product, but not a farmer.” The actor said that only at few people were cornering all benefits in societies and major communities were being denied opportunities and added that he would put an end to that. He said he was also aware of the plight of the middle classes who did not get the benefits of any scheme.

“They can neither send their kids to government schools nor pay huge fee at corporate schools,” he said. Taking a subtle swipe at other political parties, Chiranjeevi said that his party had no rivals. “Problems are our rivals. We have entered the battlefield but our battle is against problems,” he said.

Astrologers, numerologists and Feng shui experts say the flag of Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam does not fit with celestial rules

Purohits
Tuesday has always been lucky for Chiranjeevi. “He believes in Hanuman for whom Tuesday is auspicious. He announced his political entry on Tuesday, and also his political party, said Govardhanam Bhattacharya official purohit of Chiranjeevi.

Astrologers
Chiranjeevi announced his party at 6.22 pm, the time of Aarudra star and Khumbha lagnam whose lord is Saturn or Shani. In the ‘administration house’, Mars [Khuja] is in eighth place which is dangerous. When Khumba lagnam began at 5.56 pm, there was disturbance in his rally and police had to resort to lathicharge. His party flag has the red sun which symbolises violence. There will be lot of disturbances in his party and it cannot come to power, said astrologer Srinivasa Gargeya. G Veerabhadracharyulu, head of astrology department in Telugu university, astrologer Santosh Kumar Sashtri, and Narayana Sharma, numerologist, said the time and date at were not auspicious.

Numerology
Chiranjeevi announced his political entry on the 17th [1+7=8] and his party on the 26th. [2+6=8]. Eight is the favourite number of Shani and has never been successful. As per Cheiro numerology, the alphabet ‘P’ with which his party name starts doesn’t spell success. “Someone misled Chiranjeevi, 8 is not at all auspicious,” said Mr M. Ramana Rao, a numerologist.
Feng Shui
The flag shouldn’t have red colour as it may cause aggressiveness. “White and green signify peace and prosperity, red is not a good colour .This colour may cause aggressiveness. He should change it to orange shaded red,” said Inciyah Nazir, Feng shui expert.

Mohan Babu in Chiranjeevi ‘party’

Posted by chiru On August - 28 - 2008

Megastar Chiranjeevi hosted a ‘Mega’ Tea party for Tollywood at Ramanaidu Studios in Hyderabad, Saturday evening. While most of the who’s who of the telugu film fraternity were there, the party was not without its due share of some interesting incidents.

Chiranjeevi in his speech got quite emotional and was all teary-eyed as he was bidding farwell to his film career and Tollywood.

While there were many who attended the ‘party’ including Viswanath, Ragahavendra Rao, Ramanaidu (ofcourse, his place), Venkatesh, Nagarjuna, Brahmanandam, the most noticeable that were absent was the entire Nandamuri clan including Balakrishna, NTR, Kalyan Ram etc. Also neither did Superstar Krishna or Prince Mahesh were there.

While this was not supposed to have any political colours attached to is, the Nandamuris have already confirmed their plans of campaigning for Telugu Desam party and that might me be the reason for not turning up. So is the case with Superstar Krishna who is back in to Congress. Also recent incident of fan clashes between Mahesh and Chiranjeevi could have been another factor.

But what turned out to be a surprise of the evening was the presence of Mohan Babu who accepted Chiru’s invitation and was in the party dilly-dally. Not far ago, Mohan Babu and Chiranjeevi even went on air publicly expressing the issues between them. So it did catch up everyone in surprise when the ‘Collection King’ was there and some started even clapping as both the old friends hugged each other.

CPM Party Ready to Work with Chiru Party on Issues

Posted by chiru On August - 28 - 2008

CPM state secretary B V Raghavulu expressed his party’s readiness to work with film star Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam party on people’s issues and problems, the way it is working with other parties now.

However, with regard to forming an alliance with the new party, he said it would be too early to decide on those issues as party founder Chiranjeevi himself not spelt out policies clearly. He said that his party will decide its course of action in developing a relationship with Praja Rajyam once the party comes out with a definite agenda and policy on key issues related to Andhra Pradesh.
